A seafood market on one side and a cafe on the other. You can definitely smell the seafood market fishy smell as soon as you walk into the cafe. Luckily you will acclimate after being in there for a bit.
The cafe has both inside and outside seating and the interior is pretty cute. There were three ladies dealing with the customers on the cafe side. The brunette lady taking orders was a bit long-faced and not particularly friendly/smiley, but the other two ladies (blonde hair and black hair) brought out the orders and kept the tables clean were really nice.
Food is on the pricier side with two fish tacos and fries at about $20 after taxes. I tried the fish taco ordered by my SO and it's not my favorite as it is Mahi, which is a firmer fish. I prefer more tender and flaky. My SO liked it though and it was served hot. The fries were warm rather than hot, but tasty otherwise.
I got the steak sandwich and I would not recommend it. The bread is supposedly New Orleans baguette, but it's not fresh. The outside no longer had that subtle crunch and the inside was no longer soft. The caramelized onion and mushrooms were good, but the ribeye was not tender and just plain salty. I see the potential, but it just didn't reach...
Read moreI have been here about 4 times so far and this place is such a hidden gem. Everything so far has been good and it's always fresh and made to order. Most things except the baskets are A La Carte but it's all good.
First trip I came and had the Catfish Basket. I was shocked by how much catfish they gave you. More than expected. It came with fries and they have different sauces you can choose from.
Second trip like a week later I had to Shrimp Po Boy. You could get it fried, grilled or even blackened I believe. I usually don't like Po Boys but this was so good. Shrimp really were fried to perfection.
I came back a day later and got the burger and again, cooked to perfection, so juicy. This the only meal I forgot to take a picture of before I devoured it.
Today I came and got the SteakBomb and again, something that was really good.
Between my first and last trip they have also added 3 new menu items that I'm excited to try. Also plan to try their gumbo. Really diverse menu and everything is amazing.
It's connected to a butcher shop and a seafood market where you can also buy fresh seafood, cuts of meat and wine.
Really a spot...
Read moreWe had an absolutely wonderful experience today at lunch after Bistro V booted our reservation since we were a bit behind due to a work meeting, but that's a story for another day. We walked in and the Snapper Grabber owner noticed that we had 9 in our group and, after the friendly and helpful cashier took our order, he immediately went about helping us get two tables set up so we could all sit together. As the poor review states, it's no Chick Fil A, but that's why it's amazing! It has a fairly large, unique wine selection to bring home or for there, and wonderfully fresh seafood plates, poboys, and sandwiches, along with chicken options to boot! It was also fairly quick considering that they had to fresh cook my delicious mahi sandwich along with 8 other meals! This is by far my new favorite Vestavia restaurant and I'm sad I hadn't tried it sooner. Thanks for a great experience at...
