The place I work is right by the Either Ore Jewelers. This morning around 11:15 am, I had initially come in to only change the batteries of my watch. The manager of the store informed me that she couldn't do it because it was difficult and that it would take a while to do. However, another employee had informed me that she was able to replace the batteries in the watch. I was ecstatic to have the batteries on my watch changed since I had gotten it as a gift from a very close friend and had not worn it in a while since the batteries needed to be changed. When I had gotten there around 1pm, the watch was handed back to me and I had noticed that it was broken on the side by the center. It was broken in a spot where you can't physically break it with your hands and it would be broken by a tool. I had asked the employee, Barbara, what had happened because prior to the batteries being changed, there were no damages to the watch. She had informed me that the damages were already there when she had received the watch. I told her that there was no way that there were damages to the watch prior because when it was first checked in and before that, the watch was completely fine. She told me that it was on camera and she could show me the footage. I informed her that I could not review the footage because I had a flight out of town that I had to be on. When I arrived home and checked my jewelry box( the associate told me to check my jewelry box because it might have been broken in the box), I had called the store again and they hung up on me after I had called to ask why they didn't tell me prior to changing the batteries on my watch that there was something broken on my watch. I was informed that the owner or manager would call me about it and yet to...
Read moreOn 6/30/21 my wife brought her wedding band and engagement ring to Either Ore jeweler to have it resized. For both of them the cost was $130. The sales associate said that both bands appeared thin when receiving the rings.
The jeweler increased them by 1 size. When she picked them up, she was upset because the associate stated that the rings were too thin to give any warranty on the work. The jewelry store had these rings for a few business days and there was no communication. I feel as if the jeweler did an unsatisfactory job. If we would have received a phone call stating, “the rings are too thin to size up, in order for Either Ore to guarantee the work it is necessary to add gold.” This was never communicated.
When we picked up the rings there was no mention of a quote for re-shanking the rings. We had to bring the rings back to the store to receive a quote, which should have been the original estimate. No work should have been accepted if it cannot be guaranteed. Why give someone a wedding ring back and have them worried it’s too thin and can easily break.
My family has always brought their jewelry to this store. I have always recommended friends to this store. After being on the receiving end of an unsatisfactory business deal I am left with a sour taste in my mouth. I hope this is an isolated incident for this business.
$130 is not a huge amount and to lose a customer over it is astounding. No refund was ever mentioned. Only to put it towards the future work on the ring.
In business, communication with a customer is key. There was no...
Read moreI have been a customer at this location for many years, both purchasing jewelry and having items repaired. Recently, I visited to utilize my birthday coupon. As I stepped through the door, no more than three steps in, the lady abruptly asked if she could help me. I replied that I was merely browsing at that moment. Moments later, a man entered the store, and she greeted him with a friendly, 'Hi, how are you? Can I help you today?' It seemed I was not afforded the same courtesy. Furthermore, upon discovering that an item I had seen on their website was not available in-store, I asked about the possibility of ordering it online. She informed me that I could place an order online and collect it in the store. I was taken aback that she did not offer to place the order for me while I was present. As I mentioned, I have been a loyal customer for many years, having acquired numerous pieces of jewelry from this store, with my husband and son also purchasing items for me. This was the first occasion I left feeling as though I may not have been worthy of their attention. In a time when brick and mortar jewelry stores are starting to become a thing of the past, I would think that selectively choosing which customers to be helpful and friendly to would not be an option. ...
