I had a referral through TriCare insurance for Opthalmology due to "exposure to sunlight initial encounter".
I picked this location as it had good reviews and was close to where I work.
My first encounter was a week and a half ago and the front desk worker (blonde female that wore a medical mask) stated that I would need a printed referral and printed doctors notes. The referral # and reason for referral was not enough. Maybe my referral was not faxxed correctly from TriCare so I decided to check back again soon.
I returned today because I received a text message from this location stating that my referral had been received and I needed to call and schedule an eye exam.
This time around I had the requested documents printed and on hand. I was told by the front desk staff (same female w/mask) that I was unable to have an appointment scheduled because my doctor did not specifically refer me to this location in my doctor notes. The notes state noticeable migraines due to light sensitivity. And a possible diagnosis from my doctor and to consult Opthalmology.
This was not good enough to schedule their services.
The front desk CONDESCENDINGLY and REPEATEDLY stated that if I had read my doctor's notes that it stated that there was no part where my doctor made a referral to the exact location. Nor did it state on my doctor's notes for what procedure should be done.
"If you read your doctor's notes, it does not say where they want you to go." I explained TriCare 's referral system which she said she was familiar with.
"Well if you read your doctor's notes it doesn't even say what is wrong, other than eye pain." -I read out loud what she had previously read where it states: 'Light sensitivity with pain. Possible uveitis. Consult Opthalmology.' 'presents with complaints of light sensitivity that cause headaches. Reports issue with bright lights. Driving at night on coming headlights can also cause an issue. Ongoing for 2 years, maybe worsening in last 2 years.'
"Your referral and doctor's notes are two different things and are not related." -I explained they are both directly related and vital to this process
She would not budge, nor try to come to a compromise.
I then asked if they had multiple Tricare patients. Which a response was "Yes, all the time." Whereas in her position she would know that all Tricare referrals are NEVER from a primary care provider directly, referrals are from TriCare.
This argument was clearly going in circles and was not going to get resolved so I left.
I am not really sure what the issue was but any of my other four referrals through TriCare have not been this much of a hassle. Needless to say I have a referral to another Opthalmology center.
Maybe she was having a bad day, maybe she didn't want to do the paperwork. I'm not aure.
I understand this worker represents the company. I also understand that there are some people that do as they please. This person is the very first point of contact that newcomers have to this facility and I would recommend someone that can speak a little less condescendingly to new patients that might have no idea what is...

The male front desk person raised his voice at me about my mask. I put it on and sat down. Within 5 minutes, he actually kicked me out of the office because I was not wearing my mask properly. I am extremely disappointed to be treated in such a manner. I did message each and every doctor about this embarrassing experience. This is totally unacceptable to be treated with...
Read moreTerrible scheduling appointment! They screwed my appointment! My appointment on 3/19 was wasted! I went there and was not seen only because I owe them which was not my fault because was not informed of any unpaid balance. I paid them the same day and until now they haven't gotten me down for rescheduling. I was calling them back and forth many times since and these schedulers say different things, I was told to wait for a call again from surgery...
