I love having a international store in my neighborhood however, i am not a fan of spending my money at establishments that do not value me as a customer. I have been mistreated twice at this establishment!!! both times it was at the seafood department. The department manager is very very rude to people of color. During my most recent visit i planned on picking up some porgy fish to my suprise the fish that is normally $4.99 had a sale sign of $1.99 per pound! I was so excited so I picked up a bunch and headed to the counter to have it weighed and priced. The man helping us priced the fish at $19.96 to which i said woah that isn't right, i then showed him the sign to which he made a face and called the manager over. The manager said No! that is not the correct price and asked another employee to take the sign away. At this point I am asking the manager why would i pay the higher price when it was clearly labeled as porgy and had a price point of $1.99 . He replied " $4.99 is the price and that's it ", I was not only shocked and disappointed by his tone and lack of empathy but more importantly i've witnessed similar behavior from the seafood department manager in the past towards people of color. Read moreZERO STARS. I would give 0 stars if I could. Miguel, the Seafood manager has awful customer service. I had an issue with my purchase from seafood (my fish smelled so bad as if it was spoiled) and the customer service at the cashier was very helpful as she noticed the issue. She tried to get Miguel's attention and I watched him ignore her being disrespectful. I decided to exchange to avoid refunding. The associates behind the seafood counter along with the manager stared us down and talked about me while I was getting another fish to exchange. I ignored the comments. I then Asked to get the fish weighed and he started to argue with me, still I ignored but he kept going at me infront of all the customers now causing a scene. I told him to cancel everything because I am no longer shoping there and taking my refund. The original customer service cashier assisted me and gave me a refund no problem. I recently bought a pink pineapple for 2nd time. 1st one i bought from here was delicious 2nd one was rotten on inside. I also bought a soursop which I never seen in any store. I was so excited i paid close to $28 just to try soursop for it to rot a couple days later. I do blame myself for jot look8ng fruit up before buying, but majority of employees are not originally American im assuming, im sure cashier knew i wad buying a bad one, which by the way everyone looked the same. Cashier could have informed me, but they never speak at all when checking out. The only employee who speaks and is friendly is the man who usually cashiers. Im so disappointed.
