Wawa — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

When to purchase a Turkey and cheese sandwich. As I was selecting my toppings I observed the young Caucasian boy cleaning all of the lids with chemical cleaning products and the counter tops and the cooking appliances with the same rag. Soon as o completed my order. He immediately grabbed the sandwich bread to make my sandwich. I was furious. I told him that I didn’t want him to make my sandwich knowing that he just finished cleaning everything I’ve listed with the same d* gloves!! I immediately reported to the manager. This is a health safety issue! And every CUSTOMER THAT PURCHASE ANY FOOD FROM THIS STORE! PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND WATCHED THEM MAKE YOUR FOOD AND DRINKS. They would use the same gloves for everything!!!!!! When I mean everything, everything. Most of the Wawas in the 757 does the same thing! Please take this matter seriously. You don’t want you or your kids, grandparents sick due to cross contamination and uncleanlinesses!! This report will be submitted to the BBB and will contact a food health private investigator. This is food that we have to put in our mouths! Wawas food handlers needs to take a food handlers class. I need to see certificates. If you know certified, then you shouldn’t be making sandwiches for the public!!!!

My name is Amanda and I order from this Wawa through Uber Eats, Postmates and DoorDash ALL the time. Depending on which app I use, sometimes I need to call to make a change to a deli item if the app won’t allow it (like taking salsa off my western bagel- I’m looking at you Uber eats!)... Anyways, out of the dozens of calls I make, even sometimes super super early (like 5am sometimes!) every single person that has ever answered the phone has been extremely kind and they always sound cheerful and positive. To me, that’s a sign that the employees actually enjoy working there. I love this Wawa and appreciate all of the people that work here! Thank you for always making my breakfast perfect! :)

Editing this July 2021: I hadn’t used this Wawa for some time and today I needed them again, new staff members and a different time of day and they were AGAIN just absolutely stellar, above and beyond in their customer service… I don’t know who is doing the hiring or management there but they are doing it right. Give them all raises… only people who are treated right and enjoy their jobs treat customers the same way. The Wawa at 1700 VB Blvd needs to be trained and completely re-staffed by whoever is running things at this location, I go to that location in person almost daily and they are...

My cream cheese cheesecake smoothie was great however, I feel for anyone purchasing sandwiches there. I was unable to take a photo because my phone was in car unfortunately . Here's the story. So they had hoagie rolls on the back counter directly under the hoagie rolls was a open full trash can...not only that they had some type of sanitation wipes on top of the rolls like holding them down. My husband pointed it out to me and he wanted me to get my phone but once I saw that I wanted to watch the girl making my smoothie just in case. The girl that made the smoothie used gloves and had a hair net on covering her long ponytail which I appreciated. Back to the reason I typed this . I'm still lost on why they had their station of hoagie rolls so unsanitary.
