Waffle House — Restaurant in Virginia Beach

No way! Arrived, 0545, no customers besides me. Latina mopping the floor looks at me and says nothing. Other woman with a black eye, greets me, cleans up the bar in front of me and makes me a fresh cup of great dark coffee. I grab a booth and order simple breakfast, _$12.25. Asked if the hash browns are good she says yeah. We add onion pepper and tomatoes and cheese too. I said no cheese, just the veggies and salt and pepper. The large Latin woman does not wash her hands after handling cleaning with mop etc. I get my plate 15 mins. Later as 2 others came in for "to go"sandwiches. Hash browns, plain, no veggies no seasoning. Frozen potato, raw browned with grease. Scrambled eggs not scrambled like in a cup, just chopped up fried egg, white yellow and griddle grease char. Toast, with a penny sized amount of butter, small corner of bread. Flung on to the bread. Only one other customer in the store waiting for his breakfast, a regular Asian male. They knew him. My waiter comes over and I ask her about the hash browns, nothing in them and no seasoning. She's says the cook doesn't put salt and pepper in the hash browns anyways. I said that ridiculous you need a little at least They make me a new order, she said onions peppers tomato, and mushroom? I agreed, again. I get my new plate and it is covered with raw jalapenos. I lifted my plate from my seat at the booth to the cook, and I asked, would you eat this, showing her my dry toast with a drop of butter on each slice, and this ridiculous plate of raw veggies, and jalapeno all over the top.She says .Nope! And I don't season the hash browns. I said that's ridiculous, you just don't care or you simply can't cook breakfast properly. So now she refuses to apologize for the worst breakfast I have ever received, except for the coffee which was excellent and the black eyed waitress who was trying very hard to make to fix the plate.i revealed that I was a Chef by trade40 years and counting.and showed her my card. The Latina cook is smirking at me and saying Keep Talking , don't come back. Now I'm furious and I said some very nasty things at her about her not caring about anything, cooking, sanitation, customer service. I paid fully for my meal $12 something and I asked the waitress if she wanted tip on card or cash. She said cash please. I went to my car and gave her a $10 bill and thanked her for trying. No other breakfast in Hampton roads, WAWA gas station food. The cook, who was mopping should be only doing that, mopping the bathrooms where she has no contact, nor griddle work. She can't cook. Don't come back Jerk. I replied no problem. All 3 were laughing at me as I left. Asian guy and them. I'm very tolerant because I know it's not an easy job. I started in a Waffle House. But this was out of control. All these ratings with her can not be true. 4.0 indeed. I know why no more breakfast but WAWA and fast food opens an hour later in the biggest Naval station in the world. Sometimes you just gotta have breakfast no matter what time it is. We went for lunch. I had the cheesesteak omelette and hash browns, white toast, bacon and sausage.

So being Waffle House, you're prepared for standard fare. But from the beginning, this one seemed a little different. Let me explain..

Ordering was easy, as usual. Quick service attentive and our server got the order exactly right. No surprise there.

She called out the order, the cook recalled the order perfectly. Again, no surprise there.

Then the food arrived......here's the surprise. The presentation was gorgeous. The omelette wasn't browned or burnt, my hash browns weren't overly crispy, and that beautiful chili over the top looked super delicious. The toast was well buttered and a medium toasting. The bacon and sausage looked perfectly cooked. But as we all know, looks can be deceiving...

The omelette at first bite was light, fluffy and plenty of cheese. Subsequent bites revealed meaty strips of steak and cheese. Deliciously fluffy throughout. Loved it The hash browns I had were scattered, smothered, covered, chunked and topped. All the ingredients were cooked nicely crisp and complete. The outside potatoes had the crisp and the interior potatoes were tender and hot. The bacon and sausage that looked perfectly cooked were exactly that. Bacon was crispy and the sausage was cooked thoroughly with a nice crisp outside while the interior was tender and juicy.

So yes, it's Waffle House. But there's good ones and then there's not so good ones. This is definitely one of the better Waffle House that I've been...

This is a frequent visit for me and my friends/family or just me and my partner to go out and eat. We’ve never experienced any problems here and our food is always great. Today was the first time we’ve had an issue with no solution in our opinion. We first got asked what we decided to order, the three of us all got the breakfast meal so when she asked us if we wanted sausage or bacon we didn’t even question it without realizing. We were then brought very burnt waffles, bacon, and sausage and ate none of them. When she came back to the table with our receipts because me and my partner got a separate check from our friend. She had listed the all star special meal which we have no clue how you can confuse the words breakfast meal that’s 6.25 for a meal labeled completely different for 11.50. That’s when I said something confused and asked is that why we got all this extra food that we didn’t ask for, which either way was burnt and uneaten. She gave us 1.25 off each meal, when originally we would have payed 13.50 vs paying 21.50 and that was after she took off the “discount” so either way we payed way more than we originally should. When I was gonna ask more questions they completely avoided eye contact and our table so we just went up and payed as I am not in a mood to argue early in the morning and decided to just say something here. Hopefully something is mentioned so that this issue can be fixed for a future reference and or we can be accommodated for y’all’s mistake. Thank you and have...
