Purchased a hat that was marked as 50% off and the register said it was full price. I didn’t argue. But the lady with dirty blonde hair was walking around eyeing my children as they were approaching the register and came running to us and started to yell “not to touch the candies”. One candy toy wasn’t working and my daughter asked if I would buy it. And the lady abruptly approached my children “not to mess with the merchandise because she has been cleaning all day”. Well lady the whole store needs to be cleaned. Maybe you shouldn’t sell Knick-knacks so people don’t touch them. Vivian; I think that’s the lady’s name; You need to go back to customer service training or some training. You were very rude and don’t blame my kids for you having to clean all day. Maybe You should remove the signs that say “sale” or “50%” around the store. But thank you Crystal you were so sweet and shy. I would hate to work with that lady and I’m sorry you have to be around her. Never coming back. Thank you! I’ll take my business else where. And as soon as my family and I walked in I felt like someone was watching me the whole time I was shopping. My son and I were looking for Origami paper and we were thinking out loud looking for it. We found the card stock paper and from there went thru every aisle. And from then on someone followed us. Every move we made we were being watched. It made the whole shopping experience unpleasant. I understand people steal but dang. For a whole 30-45 mins looking for some paper - that person followed my son and I...
Read moreI love the fact that this store actually has a variety of CRAFTING SUPPLIES. While they do carry some decor they do not carry the amount another local craft store does that pushes out the amount of supplies they carry. Hobby Lobby has a variety of crafting supplies from sewing & crochet to paint & brushes for the amateur to pro artists, to models & supplies for candle making, bath bombs (and things like that), stained glass, leather work, wire work, clocks, resin art, beading, wood working, doll making, kids costumes (non-Halloween), tie dye, jars and bottles for various types of crafting. The list goes on. Plus if you need a quick gift for a friend, HL sells things like journals, ring holders, mugs, etc. The last time I went in to buy 1 or 2 things for resin art and came out with not only more resin, but supplies for a hanging root starter system for plants. I got the idea from the free idea pamphlets they have hanging around the store. While I do not like the CEO's politics concerning birth control, I do like the fact that when I go into a Hobby Lobby CRAFT SUPPLIES store, I normally find the items I went in for in stock. That means a lot for a serious crafter who doesn't like to stop what she's doing to wait for a delivery truck to bring...
Read moreThis place is a pretty big location in a shopping center along Virginia Beach Blvd. To start off, this place is closed on Sundays, so don't attempt to come in on that day of the week. The place as seen from the outside is quite clean and well maintained.
This place is primarily for home decor items. They do have some items you can find at Michael's or AC Moore, but not to the extent of the selections available elsewhere. They have a fairly good selection of fabrics and accessories. One thing that I noticed right away when being in here is that the pricing is higher for the same or similar items elsewhere. Most of the time, you can go to their website on your phone and get a code for 40% one regular priced item (if you purchase more than one regular priced item, the coupon is applied to the highest priced item). They have some hobby type items available as well, but most of them are pretty much done out the door, so there's no building or much work for the consumer.
Overall, this is a hybrid hobby store with some arts and crafts. This place is just okay. The pricing tends to be higher, which limits my want to visit this place very often. My biggest advice is to first do your homework on pricing from multiple places before getting...
