I visited this ice skating rink with my girlfriend and her mom. I am a figure skater and they donāt skate very often. This rink is very very cold so make sure you bring warm socks or gloves or even a hat and definitely a warm jacket. Iāve been in other rinks that were freezing (i.e. Ice Vault) they seem pretty similar in temperature but itās hard to tell because it was a public session here. At this rink they donāt allow you to do any figure skating (skating backwards, spins, waltz jump) at all during a public session. This was baffling to me because at the rink I took lessons at for 3 years (Mennen Arena in Morristown) I always used to be able to do little spins and jumps in the middle (I only do single jumps right now nothing too fancy or dangerous!) That was allowed at Mennen but not here. every ice rink has a different policy about Freestyle skating during their public sessions, it was just frustrating for me because going around in circles for an hour is not very exciting. The rink seems generally well run, though the rink guards kind of scared me which is maybe the point haha. But it was super easy to get our tickets for the public session, and for my girlfriend and her momās rental skates. they also have a place where you can get snacks/food and drink which is nice after the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy 5 year old daughter took ice skating lessons here for about a month and a half. While the class itself and her instructor Jessica was fantastic, the Arena has out of the blue decided to change some of its practices. The program she took includes a half hour lesson, and then one hour of practice free-skating, in which there are no instructors on the ice and the parents were allowed to come on with them for an additional $5.00 fee. The new policy states that parents will no longer be allowed to go on the ice with their children during their 1 hour practice time. Being that my daughter is only 5 and still a beginner that needs help, it is an extreme safety concern for me to let her be on the ice alone, unsupervised. What happens if she falls and needs help? When I called to ask about this, the woman on the phone said she didnāt know how to answer that for me and would have the general manager call me. Iāve spoken to the same woman about 5 times, and have left a message for the general manager since Sunday. It is now Friday and I have still gotten no response. Im not sure how they expect 4 and 5 year olds to practice ice skating independently, without any supervision, and think they wonāt get hurt. A place that is willing to put a childās safety in jeopardy is a place I just cannot...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOne weekend me and my friends were very bored and decided to go to an open hockey session at Wall (aka Jersey Shore Arena). Since I've been to open hockey sessions before most rinks have youth and adult. (youth is 17 and under) At Jersey Shore Arena there is 3 rinks and usually host an open hockey daily. But the open hockey's are accessible to ALL ages not just youth players. At first I did not mind because my friends are only a year or two older (I'm 13 btw) so I thought I can handle myself. So immeadeatly I wanted to start my position first on defense only to get a GROWN MAN YES GROWN MAN rip a slapshot right in my foot. The shot was so powerful it knocked me over and I had to limp over to the bench where I recently found out the next day my foot was sprained. Now at jersey shore you need to sign a waiver before playing open hockey there because it's so dangerous when mixing a 14 year old and a 25 year old. What I recommend is that they have 3 rinks, and with barely any activity host a youth and adult open hockey. I can guarantee more money will be made especially if open hockey's were...
