After read so many shoppers who bought expired food and/or spoiled food from this HK2 supermarket, I decided to add the following: If you found such items, take the photos with your smart phones, and report them to L.A. County Health Dept. The problems we are facing now is because when we were victimized or cheated by these Chinese vendors, we never tried to report to the authorities concerned or related, never even tried to sue them for ruin of our health. Most of we shoppers are just a bunch of silent crowd who are either ignorant or timid to deal with such problems. If you choose to be a silent victim, nobody will help you. Worst shopping center in the southern California! Parking lot is totally cracked up with many huge potholes everywhere. Garbage littered around without cleaning up regularly. HK2 in Rowland Hts at first was trying hard to make it work, but gradually it ran down like the whole dying shopping center, and currently as of August, 2022, central air condition not working at all for a long time! The whole building structure that includes the corridor annex, all without air conditioning. Terrible sewerage smell lingered right outside the entrance area, combined with the stinking odor from a eatery which sells fermented stinking tofu. About 90-95% of the business were closed, those ones still open are just struggling to survive and doomed to go bust.
There are Chinese and Latino thugs using this shopping center's parking lot to con and scam the shoppers by claiming their vehicles are damaged with dents by the shoppers' cars, demanding $$$ for the repairs, otherwise... My sister and her husband were the victims of such scams. The landlord of this shopping center should be sued for the negligence of the safety of the shoppers.
If you have to go there, do not try to park close to the shopping center entrance. Try to park a bit afar. Keep alert to those big potholes around the parking lot to avoid damages of your cars.
This shopping center is the shame of Rowland Hts. The bad City management and careless supervision of this area is like cancer that gradually spread out to other poorly managed and maintained shopping centers around this city, no wonder many businesses, especially those once popular restaurants, during the last 2~3 pandemic horrible years, either out of business or moved elsewhere; the City of Irvine their choices.
HK2 as well as Rowland Hts are both living examples of how a business and a city deteriorated beyond salvage.
Oh, BTW, let truth be told here. Why a city once great would deteriorate gradually when Chinese business became the major part of its selling power? Because most of the Chinese small business owners ONLY accepting CASH $$$, NOT CREDIT CARDS! So they could avoid paying Sales TAX, or simply forging it. They charge sales tax on every transaction, but never filed in their tax report. Without the sales tax revenue, a city or a State (such as Oregon) will not have enough budget to maintain their infrastructures. As most of the immigrants from all over the world, the Chinese are coming to America to make money, they don't care about this country at all. They would try every way to withhold the money they made in this country, but never wanted to contribute or pay back a little bit. Most of them are still die-hard loyal to their CCP government, most of them are CCP members, that's why a lot of them are...
Read moreThis place has horrible employee(s) with horrible attitudes. We bought some coconut milk; there were ones that had already expired. When we bought the coconut milk, the employee told us to buy more. After, we asked about the difference and if it had already expired. A few cartons said, “February 2022”. The employee said that February was the date it was made, but I’m sure that it is not, because there were also cartons that said the actual expiring date which was way farther away today, and it’s way more realistic. Below here, are some photos. The employee yelled at us, and seemed like she was about to start throwing hands. It was horrible. She also wouldn’t allow us to return the coconut milk. She told us to come back next time, tomorrow. As you see, the gas prices have risen up, and this market is quite far away. Before I tried to return it, I tried drinking the February one. I didn’t feel well at all, I had diarrhea. I asked my daughter to try it afterwards; the experience wasn’t well. It was sour, and the taste felt like it had already expired. It was unlike the ones who have expire...
Read moreHas fresh and good selection of produce. Has decent seafood with free deep fry options on top of cleaning. The BBQ counter that's part of the supermarket isn't in operation recently, but there's a third party BBQ booth at the front of the store. Though they didn't have the BBQ duck the last two times I shopped there in Jan and Apr 2021. The snack booth is unique in this market. If you like Asian style beef, pork, anchovy or squid jerky or preserved plums, olives you should ask for free samples here. I come to this market whenever I run out of stock of these.
But the store flooring needs new tiles or smooth out the cement floor if the intention is to go...
