This is my go-to local grocery store.
They were renovated some years back, and although the store is prettier, it is a little lacking on extras. Meaning: everything is a Kroger brand not necessarily popular national brands. So although you can find at least one of anything you may be looking for, it may not be your preferred brand nor ingredients, so you'll have to shop somewhere else also.
For several years they didn't even carry tofu anymore! I guess the corporate big wigs figured people living this far outside the city don't eat anything that fancy. Eventually, they must have gotten enough requests because it's there now, along with a smallish selection of organic and gourmet foods.
The produce is sometimes from Michigan, which I appreciate. I also buy ground bison here and Towne Club pop, which is great!
The staff are wonderful, very friendly, some have been here for years, and know us by name. They work hard too, and even try to accommodate any special requests, if corporate lets them.
I'd rather shop here than elsewhere; I only wish I could get everything I need. Maybe if they moved into a larger location, because they sure do try hard now to carry a little bit of everything. I'd just like to see a healthier selection sometimes. It's as if no one at corporate bothers to see if the shelf choices are the best ones available. That's not the local staff's fault though, and they do take suggestions and special orders.
When you come, try to shop here at off times because they are definitely the most popular grocery store in the area and there can be lines sometimes, even when every cashier is working as fast as they can. Come to think of it, it's much, much better than other grocery stores though, so I guess Kroger staff...
Read moreI visited Kroger a few days ago to buy some food, I'm on a pretty strict diet so I don't like to go to fast food restaurants for food Kroger seems to have everything for a healthy lifestyle. A few things I noticed: 1. There was a very friendly atmosphere (no dirty looks) 2. They were rearranging there aisles to make more room for product very sensible working in retail I understand this and acknowledge that times like that can be frustrating for the staff, I did not notice any frustration. 3. I was simply looking for bacon pieces for my salad I asked a women for help and what you would expect is for someone to say "yea just head to the dressings" THAT IS NOT WHAT HAPPENED, Instead this wonderful women took the time to walk me over and help me locate it, that's world class customer service at its finest, its like when you walk in to an expensive clothing store and they offer you a bottle of Avion while you make your purchase, its unexpected but very pleasant 4. I spilled some juice from the shrimp I was purchasing on the counter at the self checkout, lots of cashiers or anyone watching the self checkouts would have should some frustration in front of customers making them feel bad, he did not do that he kindly helped me scan my item and even immediately wiped the register for me, said don't worry these things happen all the time. I was very impressed all around and would definitely always pick Kroger. keep up...
