I thought I would not leave a review of this restaurant, just out of mercy, but then I thought, what about the innocent?
As I sat in the dining room, I waited for a server to notice me. There were other people in the restaurant so I thought, I guess the place is okay.
After a time, a server came to my table and handed me a menu and some chips and salsa. I ordered fajitas.
When my meal arrived, it looked absolutely delicious! Just look at these photos! This is a lesson and how looks can be deceiving.
The chicken was dry, the bell peppers were mushy, the beans were runny. The rice was okay, but did not really taste like Mexican rice. The iced tea was just awful. Not sure what brand it was, but I think I will call back someday to ask, so that I never drink it again.
I ordered the guacamole, but I cannot comment on that because it never got to the table.
The to go boxes were nice and spacious, which is good, because I did not want to eat much.
Then I began to wonder, how many of the other diners around me were also first timers. I'm thinking probably a good...
Read moreWhat an amazing Surprise! The three salsas are just amazing. The red is tasty and just the right heat. I am not a hot person but I like these! The orange is great , the Green salsa…. Not your tomatillo salsa. This is a combo of herbs and oil that is as creamy as a guacamole without the avocado! Certainly a culinary delight!! Quite honestly I have to say these are probably the best salsas we have had at any Mexican restaurant!!! The shredded chicken is moist and tasty. The Enchiladas Verde I would say probably one of the best we’ve had. The barbacoa is delicious and moist. It is Tasty ,just yummy. I love barbacoa but sometimes it has too much cinnamon for me. Here the seasoning is just right. The Quesabirria( quesadilla with Barbacoa.)and the dipping broth is delish. Small pieces of sweet onion and cilantro floating on top and just beautiful and as tasty as it looks! There appears to be a full bar too. Not a large restaurant, front area is kitchen and take out. Staff friendly. Restaurant is cute abs very clean...
Read moreTortetés is the real deal. What luck for this native Californian, with a refined and accustomed palate for authentic Mexican cuisine to have stumbled upon this small, family-run GEM of a restaurant while waiting for my kid's soccer game to start at Total Sports. From this point forward I will build in time for a meal here when we're in town for soccer! Everything from the trio of homemade salsas to the chicken enchiladas was perfection. The chicken was moist, tender, and flavorful, the verde sauce was incredible! My companion had flautas and enjoyed every bite. The service was solid, even giving good recommendations when we torn on what to order. If I lived nearby I'd be there weekly! 5 STARS...
