Writing my experience with Verizon of Washington NJ (Wireless Zone) in hopes that someone else learns from my mistake.
I visited this store to get information about leaving a family plan with AT&T and switching to Verizon with my significant other. We ended up switching plans that night. During our experience with the salesman, he continually offered us āfreeā add ons, including iPads/applewatches. We adamantly declined this. Then we were offered hotspots, that were told would be completely free with our plan and that Verizon mandated all new plans to have these hotspots. Again, I was reluctant but after multiple hours of being there, we budged and agreed to take this, since it was āfreeā and we were told it was included in the plan. Lastly, we were told about a device protection plan that was also mandated by Verizon for all plans (even though we both had paid off phones that we owned). We were told only after 6 months were we able to cancel this plan. Again, after adamantly telling him no and being told he didnāt have a choice, we just budged on it.
Once we got home, we checked our estimated bill and found it to be $150 more than we discussed with him. We went over numbers with the salesman multiple times in store. We immediately called Verizon customer service to get more information and get what we can removed. We were able to get the protection plan removed with no problem, but had to return to the store to return the hotspot and cancel the line that was created for it. Again, we had no knowledge that it would be an additional line +charge.
After multiple days and many hours sitting in their store trying to get this hotspot removed from our plans and bill, we had the run around from all the sales people. Their system had an error and could not complete the request over multiple days. We finally were able to get in contact again with Verizon customer service and get it removed ourselves.
After speaking with the employees and manager, they were adamant that they did provide all this information to us prior to our purchase. This is 100% false. In the time we sat there waiting for this issue to be resolved, I saw multiple other customers getting the same run around and false information. Later, I read reviews online and found a few people with the same experience as us. I even visited a Verizon corporate store and shared my experience to the sales people there. They knew of this store and have heard multiple other people with a similar experience.
Please learn from my mistake. Do not visit or purchase from this store. It seems as those these sales tactics are utilized by all employees and the manager, as they are paid on commission. Save your self time and money, visit a Verizon corporate store. I do not agree with businesses using predatory sales tactics like this and have filed a grievance with Verizon and the NJ Consumer Protection Bureau. I am hoping no one else is taken advantage of like this.
Addendum: now I received a reply from this store and they wrongfully listed in their response a different location. Let me be clear. This was at Washington NJ location. No one has reached out to me and I know no o e will. Manager in store had no interest in resolving this. She probably is the one that encourages these...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGot totally bamboozled by this place. Black friday promotion got $180 off each upgraded phone (which were outdated but got talked into it) and added a line with same phone to the plan with a free promotional tablet, got double charged for the upgrade fee for the added line and charged an upgrade fee for the 'free' tablet. Also do not see any credits of $180 taken off each phone. Told we were getting a promotional 'free' tablet and was only going to be charged $2.16. On the bill it shows we are paying $330, it's not free! Told if we go auto payment and paperless, bill would get cut down to $175 a month (originally told it would be @ $225). We got a bill with a late payment and monthly charge of $243+. Did not tell us we had to do autopay ourselves. (Bill would be $175 a month if all devices were payed off but he didn't tell us that) First bill was $459. Went to store and said they could not help us and did not have paperwork (which is in their computer) but told to call Verizon. Called Verizon, they cleaned up the bill a bit and told us to go back about the tablet. Went back, of course they couldn't help and couldn't get a hold of regional manager so now waiting for a phone call that has...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience with Dana and this store. Moved 4 phones from Xfinity Mobile in August of last year to Verizon. At that time they offered a free tablet. We didnāt need it or want it but it was pushed on us as, āitās free so no reason to not take it.ā On the first bill, there was a fee. We called Verizon and they said they would remove it off the bill. Subsequently it was not and after further follow up calls they advised us to go to the store. The store said, sorry, you are past the 30 days and would need to pay $176 to have it removed. Lesson learned here, make sure you verify that the store you work with is Owned by Verizon. Misleading because you will not know this without verifying in advance - the buildings all look the same. I highly discouraged everyone from using this store, and most definitely working with Dana who needs serious customer...
