To shop at, Weis is a good place to go. The employees almost always greet you with a hello and are very friendly towards the customers.
To work at, Weis is a terrible place to be. Based on things I've observed as a shopper and things I've heard from previous employees, I have deduced the following:
They have a board up in the front of the store that says how they are doing in things like cleanliness, engagement with customers, and profits. The scores are based on surveys taken by customers. Surprise, surprise! Last time I checked, the score for profits were in the 80's but engagement with customers is at a mere 10%.
Unfortunately for this branch Weis, I will be writing the corporate HQ about all of this and posting reviews so that no one else has to suffer the same way my...
Read moreThe condition of this store has slipped over the last 6 to 8 months. I’m not sure if it’s because the store changed its hours?.... But this store is not what it used to be. The store’s never adequately stocked. Maybe because there’s no more late time hours. Upper management needs to find a way to ensure that the shelves are adequately stocked prior to the store opening for the day. Today at the store opened at 7 AM. I was there at 8 AM and the produce department was wiped out! It appeared that there had been a three day blizzard and no food was able to be delivered. I asked one of the women working in the department what was going on and she said they were waiting for a truck. Then when I went back to use the restroom the boxes were piled up to the ceiling. It was apparent the truck had already arrived. I think there is a stocking problem. If the shelves aren’t stocked then the store should not open! I had the same experience when I went into the dairy department. I find it highly interesting that the snack and the soda aisle was well stocked! So it seems that the store is only focusing on a certain type of consumer. In closing I want to make a comment about the self check out. It’s pretty evident to me that people are not interested in the self check out! There are always only one or two registers open and the lines are horrific! The few people that choose to use the self check out can’t seem to get through there efficiently. To solve this problem you still need an employee designated to stand in that area so they can rescue somebody when they hit a roadblock with the self checkout procedure. This is awfully counterproductive. Put that an employee on that register, get your consumers through the checkout, get their groceries bagged and get them out! This store is not consumer centered. I think they’ve gotten too comfortable with the idea that they are the only game in town and that we have to settle. A & P in Belvidere NJ made that same mistake, and look what happened to them. In fact, all of your A & P - s are gone now. That’s because I believe they lost their focus. The focus needs to be on the customer. This store needs work and I fault...
Read moreThe store itself is great. Unfortunately I had to deal with the woman at the customer service counter and she was so nasty. I was returning fish I had purchased but was rotten. It was in the seafood bag that it came in. She wanted a receipt and said that everyone keeps their grocery receipt. I never do, I told her she could see it through my price plus card. She was refusing to give me my full purchase price back and said to me “it because of people like me that make stores loose money”. Not sure how me purchasing rotten fish and asking for my money back became my problem. I then asked to speak to the seafood manager who was nothing but pleasant and she told her to give me a full refund. She even started arguing with her saying I didn’t deserve the full refund and I should only get the sale price. I’ve never had such a problem returning something as I did yesterday. This woman obviously doesn’t belong behind a customer service desk. I’m now looking for a different grocery store all because of her. I’m usually there 2 to 3 times a week and spend a decent amount each time. They will no longer be receiving my business. All because of this woman’s...
