My husband and I had our first and last experience with Jon Wye in an event for small businesses on 11/24. I was interested on one of the clutches they had on display but wanted a bigger size. Emily, the woman at the booth, offered us to finish an unfinished bigger clutch and ship it to us on 11/26. We agreed, gave her my contact information and and paid for it full. By 11/28, we were both worried since we had trusted their business we knew nothing about, and at that point had no tracking number, news or clutch. We emailed and Facebook messaged them asking for updates, Emily responded saying she didn't know how to use the machine and she had to wait for her boss to return and finish it, she excused herself saying she forgot to contact us to let us know what happened. After emailing, calling, messaging, and texting Jon for 2 weeks, the clutch finally arrived today 12/07, without so much as an apology note or token admitting their mistake. For a small business trying to make a name for themselves and falling at attracting new clients, they have no business ethics. I have no interest in chasing business owners to deliver a product I paid...
Read moreThe store had a tent at the DC Downtown Holiday Market and during our visit me and my boyfriend stopped by. I liked the design on one of their clutches the one available was a tall clutch and I wanted the smaller clutch to gift to my daughter for Christmas. The smaller clutch was not available in the tent, the sales woman said I can place an order with her and they can ship it to me with in a week. I said can I order it myself online, she said yes but you won’t pay shipping if you order with me. She was pressing and I gave in. I ordered and got a sales receipt that doesn’t mention shipping. She had me enter my address and contact info on the notes app in her iPhone. Where there were other people listed. This was on 11/24, fast forward 12/7 nothing in the mail. I emailed the company and they have not responded. I really want to give this as a gift and now I am out $79.31 and have no gift. They don’t have a phone number on their website or on their receipt.
Update: They finally responded to my email once I sent another email. We will see if I get the...
Read moreI had the absolute pleasure of visiting Jon Wye’s leather workshop in DC after ordering two of his belts, and it turned out to be one of the most memorable shopping experiences I’ve had. Not only are the belts stunning—thoughtfully designed, incredibly well-crafted, and truly unique—but Jon took the time to personally walk us through his shop and show us how everything is made.
It’s clear that each item is created with intention and a deep respect for the craft. The materials are responsibly sourced, the workmanship is top-notch, and the designs are unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere. But beyond the quality of the products, what stood out most was Jon himself—he’s passionate, engaging, and genuinely enthusiastic about what he does.
If you’re looking for something special, whether for yourself or as a gift, I can’t recommend Jon Wye Leather enough. Supporting a local business with heart and soul like this is...
