This used to be one of my favorite thrift stores. However, after my experience today, I don’t think I’ll be back.
When I was checking out, an employee standing near the register (not the older woman cashier who is always very kind) asked me if there were any other similar jackets in the kids section. I said I didn’t remember seeing any other boy ones but think I saw some girl ones. She commented that she wondered why the jacket I was buying was priced at $3.99 because North Face was normally priced at $19.99. The cashier said she was probably the one who priced it like that and she would just make sure it was priced correctly next time (This is exactly how the situation should have been handled).
Instead, the other employee said “No” and her attitude immediately changed. The cashier commented “do you think someone might have switched the tag or something?” The other employee didn’t say anything and just walked to the other side of the store to look through the kids rack to see what the other jackets were priced at. She came back to the register and said that North Face is priced at $19.99 and did I still want the jacket at that price. Her tone seemed very accusatory that I had somehow switched the price tag- which I definitely did NOT do. It was honestly such an uncomfortable experience because I have never stolen anything in my life or tried to switch tags. I have been a loyal, paying customer of New Heart since they first opened several years ago. However, between this really negative experience and them jacking up their prices ($19.99 for a used kids jacket is insane), I don’t think...
Read moreThis is a very nice thrift store set up more like a boutique. It has a pleasant atmosphere, no bad smells, and no loud music, so it's a pleasure to walk around. I usually try to find kids' clothes, shoes, toys, and books. They had a decent selection of kids' clothes with sizes 0 to 24 months placed in bins you have to dig through, but I don't mind this :p. They don't have many toys but do have a great selection of books! There are no shopping carts, so there's no place to contain your child if you go with a toddler, but I don't think space permits shopping carts, so bring your stroller or entertainment for your little one. I am noticing a trend in all thrift shops where name brands are priced way higher, $20, $30 or more for a kids Jacket, it's just a bummer. Regular kids' clothes cost $1 for sizes 0-24 months and $2 for 3+ years (don't quote me on this), so prices are way better than other thrift stores in the area. Overall, good experience, friendly staff, and a...
Read moreI have donated here a few times, but decided today I would go in and shop. I had my two year old with me, so of course taking her in a place I’ve never been made me a little nervous. I went in and she immediately found the toys so I went through the bucket of toddler clothes while she played. The prices were more than fair and the variety was amazing! The woman working came in and had a full conversation with my daughter and was just so refreshingly nice. My daughter pushed the toy cart around with all the items she wanted in it and when we checked out we got that same awesome, warm customer service. It is so rare I go somewhere, especially with my little one that her and I are treated with care and I just want to thank the woman who was working today so much. Your light really made our day and we will definitely be back and...
