I received a free movie ticket, so I went here for the first time to see The Last Rodeo on opening weekend & caught a 10pm showing that Saturday night. The parking lot was packed and busy but clean. The lobby was big and open with some comfy chairs, tables with seats, a gaming area, a cute display for the new Lilo movie & some short lines for concessions. The young fella at the ticket booth mumbled when I gave him my ticket, and when I asked him what he said, he had a bit of an attitude when repeating himself. The popcorn & drink line moved quickly, that staff member was friendly enough, prices were fair, and the items were good & fresh. The movie room itself was clean, the seats were roomy & much more comfortable than Regal and it wasn't freezing cold like I had anticipated which is another plus. The volume was a bit excessive, but it was better too loud than not loud enough. The restroom, however, was horrendous and unacceptable. I understand there were a lot of patrons, and it was the end of the night, but both times I went (at arrival & before leaving), there were staff members standing around just chatting. The thickness of dust collected on air vents and stall walls indicates cleanliness is lacking long term, not just during busy times. Trash cans were overflowing, water was all over the sinks, stalls were out of paper, there was stuff all over the floor, including a roach (not the bug), and something else with a Marijuana leaf on it. Upon leaving, they had bags of the leftover popcorn on tables near the exit for folks to take on their way out if interested. Overall, it was a really nice place that I would come to for watching movies. Would have given 5 stars if the bathrooms were cleaner & the...
Read moreZeus is a clean and comfortable theater. Movie volume and room temperature are just right. There is a lounge with couches for "people-watching" if you find that more interesting than previews. I often have my dog in the vehicle and there is a spacious grassy hill to the West of the parking lot where I can let him out to run around before and after the movie.
I never eat or drink movie concessions, so I cannot review that.
The employees are always different every time I visit this theater. Not sure what is the deal with such high turn over. They are generally nice, however, even while it seems like perpetual trainee scene.
Almost loses a star for assigned seating. I like to intuit where I want to sit after I go in. I guess it is a necessary evil to accomodate internet ticket sales.
When I visited there last I experimented in the little arcade. It had a very scary 1st person crossbow action shooter game with realistic and extremely gory (attacking zombies so ok?) violence and life-like horror. I really enjoyed that game, better than Target Terror (I dropped an extra $5 at Zeus destroying the undead...and well, also getting killed by them!) I am sure the kids dig the arcade too. But it was mostly adults like me in the arcade when I was there. I saw a few people playing the basketball game (shooting hoops, not a video game) and laughing together hysterically.
It seems that many people find that Zeus is an...
Read moreSo, took my wife to see a movie this afternoon, we arrived 20 minutes early as usual so we could get good seats. Guess what, all the best seats were booked in advance online, the only seats available were the very top row that don't recline. Most of our movie going is spontaneous not planned in advance.
We sat there through all the ads until the movie started. The theater was still half empty! We left and got our money back. I can only imagine all those people coming in after the movie started, looking for their seats in the dark.
Why would anyone buy advertising pre movie? The only incentive to get there early enough to see the ads is to get a good seat!
I have no problem pre selling tickets online but seat selection should be first come first serve. What happens when you are seated behind the tall guy or annoying kid? What an unnecessary complication. I have been going to Zeus since it opened, they ruined it for me.
Happy Anniversary! Been two years already and I have not been back! I'm in the habit of waiting for a movie to get to Legacy Theaters in the Staunton Mall. THREE BUCKS A TICKET AND PICK YOUR SEAT, FIRST COME FIRST SERVED. ...
