An amazing place and a great historical stop. The temple is fairly small and there is a small museum by it at the entrance. The architecture has an interesting fusion of gold rush rustic California with the classic temple look. The interior is ornate and beautiful, with a lot of history behind everything. The temple contains a living space for the Chinese teacher who lived there in the early 20th century, and there are fliers from the Chinese community all over the walls.

Hundreds of Chinese miners came to the Weaverville area in the 1850s and prospered despite hardships, discrimination, and tax on foreign miners. The first house of worship burned in 1873; the Chinese continued their religious traditions in the present temple, dedicated April 18, 1874. Moon Lim Lee, trustee and grandson of one of its contributors, gift-deeded the "Temple Amongst the Forest Beneath the Clouds"...
