This is a perfectly fine salon and I liked and appreciated my stylist. Consider this merely a cautionary tale. My first in person consultation with my stylist was canceled the morning of our appointment because she was sick and she suggested we do a virtual appointment that day instead. I appreciated her concern for myself and others well-being. We agreed to do an online consult after 5p. I texted when I got home that I was available, but got no response. Understandable, I've been sick and I know how that can be. I never heard from the stylist or salon admin about rescheduling, so I texted six days later asking if we could reschedule. I was told we could and I offered my availability. Two days later, I got a text from the admin apologizing for missing my response and offering to reschedule, so I did. I saw my stylist twice and loved the creative work she did with my color and cut. I forgot about the bumpy beginning. Four months later, the night before my third appointment, I came home from work and wasn't feeling well. I went straight to bed and slept 13 hours. When I woke up the morning of my appointment, I had a low fever. I called the salon immediately and left a message, and I texted the admin to let them know and ask to reschedule. By 4 in the afternoon, the time of my appointment, my fever had reached 102. I received a text from the admin telling me "We have a short notice fee that needs to be paid before we can reschedule ... We will reach back out to you to reschedule when the invoice is paid." The next day, I still had a fever. I checked my email and saw the invoice was for the whole time I had booked, $270. Honestly, I was surprised, but I respect my stylist and paid the invoice. I felt like they might not have wanted me to come to the salon with that fever, especially after the last few years we've all gone through. I texted the admin and asked if a portion of this invoice might apply to my next appointment. "No, it compensates the stylist for that time block that was reserved, which they can't fill when a short notice cancellation happens." This felt excessive, but I understood the policy. Six days after I paid the invoice, no one had ever reached out to me to reschedule. Frankly, I was over it. I was no longer sick and couldn't have afforded to schedule with my stylist for another 8 weeks, but they never even bothered to reach out. So, I sent a direct message to my stylist on Instagram letting her know that I appreciated her work, but I couldn't afford the cancellation policy and would not be returning. She never responded either. So, I have thoughts about this entire sequence of events. I also know that I didn't have to pay that invoice and feel a bit taken for following their policy. I appreciate the inclusive personality and progressive messaging of the salon. I had hoped this would be a kinder, gentler experience. I hope that yours is, or at least that you know 48 hours in advance of having an illness that you need to cancel. That is my real message here. Their cancellation policy is strict and their communication needs a...
Read moreI'm sharing my experience so others know what to expect when getting a haircut here.
I reached out through the website and got a text asking if I had a price limit (in order to assign a proper stylist). I should have asked what the pricing was which is my mistake, but I said no price limit because I never expected a haircut would be over $100?? This is NOT a swanky salon and this is not NYC or San Fran, so I was not expecting outrageous prices for A HAIRCUT.
I arrived and was underwhelmed by the interior. Especially knowing how much I spent, I would expect more of a relaxing experience, not harsh fluorescent lighting, and a crowded room with people talking over one another. Wasn't offered a beverage (again, thought I would be asked if I wanted a water or some beverage for a $150 haircut), and got a sad scalp massage. I asked for a basic cut. My hair is super long and thick so I didn't want anything crazy-- I wanted it cleaned up a bit.
My stylist did not discuss pricing before cutting my hair. When I paid, she did not tell me the price nor did I get a receipt. The next day I noticed a $150 charge on my account so I called and asked if there was a mistake. I did not get color, just a cut. The receptionist told me my stylist's price was $150 a haircut. I knew tip was baked in, but OMG this is ridiculous. What if a stylist did a crappy job-- they just assume everyone deserves a crazy tip no matter what the cut outcome was? And that's what stinks-- I was NOT happy with my cut. I had to wear it up for months because it looked like a mullet. I should have known based on her social media that her cuts are very shaggy. I know this is the trend, but again, a trim is different than getting a shag.
Should have done my homework before getting the cut-- again, my fault. But not happy with the price/built in tip for a trendy cut I...
Read moreThis place is amazing and Emma is fantastic— honestly I never thought my hair could look this good.. I’m not much into going to salons and getting my hair done.. prior to visiting Locke it had been about 15 years since I’ve had a professional haircut(typically I just trim the ends and throw it in a bun) but I think Locke and Emma has changed that lol- I actually look forward to going back!!! Emma was so sweet - everyone i met there was just fantastic and so welcoming- the whole place just has good vibes. Their online line schedule system is great and soooo easy to use — and they have pictures of who would be cutting your hair — I picked Emma because honestly she looks older in her picture and I am a little older— I wanted someone who was maybe use to older thinning hair. Well while Emma is not As old as I thought she was, she was flipping fantastic. I had ordered just a cut and trim but while chatting with Emma I informed her I was getting ready for a big event and while she did cut my hair she gave me my first ever blow out and even styled my hair!!! It was very collaborative and Emma was able to translate my indecision.. she even said hi to my daughter when I FaceTimed her to show her my first ever blowout. She also shared with me some methods on how to easily and naturally style my hair and after all of that, REFUSED to accept my tip!!!! — they are non gratuitous.. I asked her if she would accept tip if I came there with cash and shoved in her hand.. she said maybe 🤣 anyhoo it was quite the experience, I never thought I would be one of those ladies that goes to the salon .. and Locke def changed my mind on that! I look forward to my...
