We have been patients of HF for little over a decade now, and have been given great treatment..However, I see a staffing issue throughout the ER. Not so much when you check in and sit down in front of the window, but in the evaluation/treatment room and staffing inside the ER room in general.. I highly recommend to place an attendant near the ER doors, as I would see people coming in almost falling and one gentleman having his wife over his shoulder. I went to retrieve a wheelchair for them as the security guard was watching he came to assist. Guards should be trained in such situations other than taking peoples ID and sitting at a very small desk. I would think of security check-in point to be a bit more expanded because that is a high traffic area everywhere around there needs to be monitored and adhered to. In fact, the whole lobby in ER area needs to be expanded and the registration/intake room is the small as a closet. I think that's unacceptable. Just like the main entrance of the hospital It's just as busy and this is almost like a main entry into the most important part of the hospital for immediate care.
On another note, the ambulance brought our son into your ER recently we had Dr. Orthmeyer and nurse Courtney. I had to make sure my son was seen and in a room right away. He came in with a tooth injury after fainting in the bathroom of dehydration. His tooth was out of his socket and couple more teeth broken. The doctor handled him with such patience along with nurse Courtney and listened to everything that I suggested he should do and he put his tooth back in his socket and wrapped it up tightly. The staff could see my distress while I was calling oral surgeons, and nobody would take us in. Dr. Orthmeyer did try calling the oral surgeons that you are affiliated with however, the number listed is not updated. Please update your list. After leaving the ER, I went in unannounced to that particular oral surgeon's office since the address was listed on the discharge papers. Fortunately they took my son in right away. He needed a wire and a stint in place to properly align and secure the teeth until further assessment. This was a miracle especially on a Friday. It would've lead to infection and discomfort all weekend. I am glad that I took action and went in myself or else we would've just went home had further damage to his teeth and the repair process could've been extensive. It is very important to list more than one or two affiliations, and the doctor had to go see other patients so we were left not knowing what to next. I hope you treat all your doctors and nurses with compassion, kindness, and appreciate what they do for their patience under low...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreEveryone be warned of this poor emergency department. The reviews are accurate! I arrived with a severe reaction to a bee sting at the emergency department today. I was checked in not being able to walk or sit up straight. They pushed me into the waiting room and said I'll be helped any minute. I was assessed by a so called nurse while having a severe episode of whole body spasms and the sides of my neck started swelling too. She said I'm fine and I'll have to wait for a doctor. I continued on to have a total of 9 severe whole body spasms that lasted between 5-10 minutes each and was waiting there for two hours. My co-worker had to wipe my drool and snot off my face and my shirt because I couldn't control any of my muscles. I was completely depleted and he had to hold me upright so I would not fall off the chair. People in the waiting room tried getting the staff's attention multiple times because they were scared and afraid I wouldn't make it. No one did anything! I didn't get medication, didn't even get ice to cool my rapidly swelling hand. Onward to being taken back into a hallway to be left alone out of sight out of mind for yet another hour. I could've died there and no one would've noticed. People with mild dehydration, hand foot and mouth desease and sprained ankles were all admitted before anyone even talked to me.
In the end, I had a very unfriendly doctor who only bothered to ask me :" you feel better yet? Wanna go home?" and if she could release me to go home. Got a jab in the arm with pain medication and that was it.
6 hours later, my hand keeps getting bigger and swelling more and more.
Who ever was responsible for the care not provided today, shame on you!
Henry Ford would turn in his grave if he would know that you guys are using his name for such a poor excuse of an emergency department!
My co-worker provided better medical care today than these so called "professionals"!
Update: my arm kept swelling for 3 more days until the swelling finally got less because an urgent care doctor took actual care, not like these posh wanna be doctors and nurses in fancy Henry Ford...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI do not like giving bad reviews at all however it needs to be done when necessary. Not just to warn others but to bring attention to the lack of service thatās was received.
I visited the ER 3 weeks ago due to hypertension: I was dizzy, confused, nauseated and vomiting. I wasnāt well at all. I was working remotely and didnāt even remember ending a meeting. As with certain symptoms they perform an ECG prior to you even seeing a doctor as protocol.
My ECG results were not good. They let me leave with signs of a heart attack. I read the results when they came through my health chart and as an untrained professional I knew what the results meant. My follow up with my doctor 3 days later resulted in me needing to see a cardiologist.
She reviewed the ECG that the hospital ran during my visit. Why didnāt they run more test was the question? Why didnāt they keep me? Better yet why didnāt anybody there inform me? There was no suggestion to follow-up with my Doctor! There was no we recommend you follow up with a Cardiologist! There was nothing!
They gave me something for the blood pressure and sent me home. This is beyond careless. I donāt know where great medical care and compassion went but it sure has left. Bill my health insurance, I pay a copay and I didnāt even receive the proper care. Healthcare is a money grab they want you to keep going to the ER. If I have any issues before I see the cardiologist (my appointment is a little far out) I have to go back to the ER. And for what to be sent home with no further testing, no answers and still have to wait to see the cardiologist!
I still have the pressure in my temples that has been present since my ER visit. Guess Iāll have to go back to make sure itās not a tumor or anything. They may run test this time!
Iām writing this review to bring attention to the poor healthcare received particularly at the closest HenryFord Hospital near me. West Bloomfield do better!
Train staff on protocol and to ask for a second opinion if theyāre not sure. You can cause...
