Where to begin with This Is Feeling - hands down, the BEST!

Josh and I planned our wedding long distance which came with its own set of challenges. When looking for photographers - we knew one thing - we wanted someone that would document our wedding day in a way that when we looked back at our photos it'd feel like we were there all over again. During a trip to Chicago to choose our vendors, we met with three photographers all of which had what I called the "white wash filter" wedding photos. We shared our experience with our florist and she recommended Ben at This Is Feeling -- it was our last night in Chicago and Josh reached out to Ben thinking we'd have to fly back to Chicago to meet with him as we were leaving the next day. Ben picked up the phone and made himself available and we met at his studio that night.

From the minute we walked into the studio Ben made us feel so welcomed - there were wedding photos hung throughout the studio that were EXACTLY what we were looking for. As soon as we left the studio we knew that Ben was our guy!

We signed our contract that included an engagement session which we shot over our Christmas trip to Chicago -- Ben was so easy going and made sure to capture Josh and I so naturally. We truly enjoyed our shoot. Once we received those photos it reassured us that we chose the perfect photographer for our Wedding Day!

Our initial Wedding Day was April 24th - as COVID began to develop and evolve - we decided that we'd have to postpone our wedding to September 11, 2020. I cannot begin to express how AMAZING the team at This Is Feeling was during the uncertainty that we in with this pandemic. We had no idea what would happen, if they would close shop, if we'd have to search for new vendors, etc. This Is Feeling quickly shared with us their availability for the next year and we quickly chose our date. During this entire pandemic, they created a newsletter that included reassurance, tips and tricks on how to navigate through these times as there were many couples (us included) that felt lost.

Leading up to our new date, Ben kept in close contact and was there to answer any questions that we had and made himself available for calls!

Our wedding day came and we couldn't imagine any other way than with Ben as our photographer. We decided on taking first-look photos and photos with our bridal party throughout the city prior to our ceremony. Having seen Ben's work, we trusted him to choose the locations for these photos. He worked with our planner every step of the way, with a whole set of different locations, each of which fit perfectly with what we had envisioned. He even prepared backup locations demonstrating absolute preparedness in the most unpredictable of times.

At church and the ceremony it was much of the same. Ben fit right in with the bridal party and guests, as if he knew everyone for many years. Once the festivities began, he managed to operate in a manner that you didn't even know he was there, except for the flash of a bulb or click of a shutter. The night can and went and our final pictures were delivered. We could not be happier with what we received and the final product. If you are looking for typically posed photos of guests standing around, this is not what you will see. Ben and the team at This is Feeling were fantastic and my wife and I couldn't be happier with the final result of their hard work. It all started with their process to understand the two of us at our core. Spending time to get to know us and what we like, how we wanted our story captured, and what was most important to us created a unique and brilliant catalog of images. Combine this with their skills with not only a camera but also with people and I could not imagine a better end product. As someone who likes a deal, and typically puts too much stock into cost, I have to say the investment we put into our photos and video were easily worth much much more than what we paid! The day was so perfect to the two of us and, incredibly, This Is Feeling was able to capture the entire experience/feeling of the day. The incredible care they took to make us feel like a member of their crew/family and not just a client was so amazing. The final product beautifully told the story of our day like I had never seen before in photos. We re-visit the day often and are able to feel the same emotions we did then thanks to their hard work!

For a little more detail for those of you still reading... We had Mike as our lead photographer. Mike was very level-headed and had a solid game plan coming into the event. He was able to make quick decisions effectively and was able to lead my wife and I in directions to make our photos really come to life. The two of us wanted a photo album with mainly candid photos of us and our guests and Mike and the team delivered above our expectations. Knowing some family members would still like stock set photos his team also made this happen without causing us to miss much of the reception at all. We had a very tight timeline, with very variable weather and lighting (Chicago January Wedding), yet every photo we received looked perfect! We added video late to our package, yet our cameraman and edited videos are some of our favorite/most used parts of our package and I would highly recommend this as well. The online package came with photos, an edited photo collage with music along with edited videos. Everything was very simple to access and save and was easy to view from our smartTV. Can't recommend them enough, remember this is a day you will want to remember forever, best to place it in the hands of the This is Feeling team so you can re-visit the day any time...

Working with This is Feeling was so effortless and fun, to say the least. I contacted Ben last minute in a pinch to shoot both our engagement and wedding photos and he really stepped up and made our experience better than we could have ever imagined! It was an incredibly emotional and difficult time getting married during COVID and Ben provided such peace of mind, something my husband and I needed more than anything. I had known for quite awhile about Ben's company but I had no idea how crazy talented he was! Had I known before, I would have skipped the several interviews we had previously with the many other photographers and gone straight to Ben. Ben has an organic, go with the flow, natural approach to photography. Ben has a unique ability to capture each moment in the moment. The whole time my husband and I were being photographed, It was like Ben wasn't even there. When we received the pictures back, it was in a timely manner and they were all just so gorgeous and professional - we had a tough time picking our favorites! I told Ben what I was looking for... trees/nature, giddy genuine love.. and I can't even describe how over the moon I am for having these precious, priceless pictures that captured our love so well. In the midst of a pandemic, not everything was taken from us; rather we were introduced to this gem of a photographer that we will continue to use for future years.
