First and foremost, not all jewelry shops are created equal, and if you're shopping for an engagement ring, you should know that your satisfaction with the finished product will greatly depend on the jeweler's craftsmanship, attention to detail, and expertise. All the little details add up and contribute toward the overall aesthetic of your ring. In that sense, the ring's design is almost as important, if not more important, than the quality of its center stone. This is what sets Earth’s Treasury apart, in my opinion.
I specifically wanted an ethically sourced gemstone and spent a lot of time researching. Once I decided that I wanted a Montana Sapphire, I scoured the internet for the best artisan jewelers that carry mine direct Montana Sapphires. After experiencing poor customer service, lack of knowledge and slow response time from another company…I was so lucky to stumble across Earth’s Treasury. Not only are their gems absolutely gorgeous, but they are very fairly priced. I immediately fell in love with a yellow-gold bicolored Montana Sapphire they had listed on their website and I inquired by email immediately. Jeff, the founder of Earth’s Treasury, responded within 30 minutes and also included a pair of videos of the gem taken indoors and outdoors. At that point, I was already sold but it gets better…
Jeff put me in touch with the lead jewelry designer, Lauryn, who called me promptly the next day to answer all of my questions about how the process works. Soon after, the gem was purchased and the journey began. The gem arrived the next day and we were given a 10 business day review and return period to make sure we loved it. If for some reason we were not happy with it, we could return it for a full refund. Spoiler alert…we loved it. The next step was to ship it back (I have to admit it was difficult to part with) and start working with Lauryn on the design. I shared stories and details with her about our relationship and through our communications Lauryn combined our personal details with her wealth of experience and creativity to design the perfect ring.
Because my fiancé and I had both previously been married and came together later in life each with two kids of our own, I knew I wanted something that represented us and was different fom anything we’ve seen. I wanted the whole ring to feel like the sun because I always call my fiancé my big ray of sunshine. Lauryn suggested incorporating smaller colored Montana Sapphires around the center stone within the diamond baguette “rays”. The two small yellow Montana Sapphires on each side represent my fiancé and I and the four smaller mint colored Montana sapphires in each corner represent our four children. We received sketches and 3D renderings of the ring design in progress, which was incredibly convenient.
But design is just one part of it, am I right? You want to know what the sales experience is like, too. Jeff, Lauryn, Nina and Tessa were very communicative via phone and email. They were knowledgeable, professional, and above all else, understanding of our goals. On top of that, we received a complimentary appraisal by mail and email a couple weeks after our engagement which was a pleasant surprise and icing on the cake.
Every day I look at this ring, I am grateful for the team at Earth’s Treasury who took our love story and made it tangible. They are on top of their game and latest trends (check their Instagram if you don't believe me), which leaves a lot of traditional jewelry shops...

When I started my search for the right sapphire gemstone to use in the engagement ring for my fiancé, I wasn’t quite sure where to start. I looked at a lot of local jewelers first, but none of them had the cut, color, size combo I knew she wanted. This took my search online, which I was very hesitant about at first. Many of my friends and family warned me about going this route at the time as well, but I wanted to do my own research. Long story short, I couldn’t be more happy with my decision to go with Earth’s Treasury. Below is a detailed recap of my experience.
Customer Service:
First off, I have to recommend Lauryn, who was assigned to me right after I sent an inquiry. She truly was the best to work with. However, there were multiple people who helped me throughout the selection & design process, all of who were top notch professionals. From start to finish, they had prompt communication and always seemed to go the extra mile to make sure we were on the same page with my vision. I even had a last minute change of heart and decided to upgrade the 14k gold band to a 18k band. The team was able to submit a rush order for me, and get the ring to me in time just before I left for our trip where I proposed. I was very impressed with their dedication to make sure I had just the piece I wanted.
Selection & Design Process:
Earths Treasury allows you to purchase gemstones to view in person, with a 2 week grace period to return them for a full refund, or put to the cost of the final ring design if you choose to go through them. I highly recommend taking advantage of this. I was able to purchase 2 gemstones at once, have my fiancé pick the one she loved, and return the one she didn’t (as much). Seeing the gemstones in person first really helped put my mind at ease about the quality, and that I was picking just the right one. Once I was set on the stone, I was assigned a designer (Julia), who knocked it out of the park. She was patient with me as I was new to the world of engagement rings and tried to explain my vision. Through it all she added elegant and unique touches to the design that turned out beautifully.
Price & Quality:
One of my main concerns with going with an online vendor was getting burned by a bad quality ring, but Earths Treasury was sure not to disappoint. First, when I dove through the rabbit hole of what makes a good cut for a gemstone, and passed on some questions/concerns to Lauryn, she looped in the owner Jeff who cuts the gemstones. Jeff took the time to answer all of my questions, and give me detailed insight into his process/credentials. These were only words of course, but they were validated when I got the final ring appraised. I did an in-person appraisal, and the appraiser continued to compliment the “Eureka Brilliant Cushion Cut” of the sapphire. She said the quality of the cut and gemstone were exceptional, and the ring ended up appraising for over 25% what I paid for it.
All in all, I can’t recommend Earth’s Treasury enough. They were reliable, professional, and just made the entire process an enjoyable and exciting one. Thank you Lauryn, Julia, Jeff & the rest of the team! I will sure be recommending you to my...
Read moreI had the pleasure of working with many members of the staff of Earth's Treasury for my custom engagement/commitment ring and commitment bracelet.
The process started with selecting the stone for my engagement ring. I was looking for a parti-color blue/orange sapphire as I wanted a stone that represented fire and ice. Jeff sent me videos of the different blue/orange Montana sapphires that I had selected on the website. The gems were beautiful but didn't quite fit the look I was going for. Learning from Jeff that the blue-orange combo is quite rare, I was about to change my vision to a two-stone theme. But below and behold, I was emailed the day before my birthday about a blue/orange Montana sapphire that had just come in and the staff wanted to know if I wanted to proceed with it for my engagement ring. It was a very quick “yes” from me and I was put in touch with Nina from the shipping department who had the sapphire sent out to me so I could see it in person before making my final decision. The sapphire was perfect for me and then I was directed to Lauryn, the head of the jewelry design team to start creating my custom ring.
The entire custom design process was a lot of fun from start to finish. Based on my vision, timeline and budget, Lauryn put me in touch with their Senior Jewelry designer, Julia. I had A LOT of ideas for my engagement/commitment ring (too many honestly) and Julia gave the best suggestion of taking elements I had listed in my ring design and having a second, complimentary piece of jewelry created. In the end, I opted to have an asymmetrical fire/ice ring made with orange accent sapphires on one side to bring out the orange in the main blue/orange sapphire; the other side represented wings from a bird (a goose in my case). For my custom commitment bracelet, I chose a claddagh bracelet that had two geese (instead of two hands) holding the center heart with accent blue sapphires around the entire bracelet as well orange color-treated diamonds in the crown to tie in with the engagement ring. We even added some Greek holloware inspiration as I wanted to fuse my Irish heritage with my future husband’s Greek heritage into the design of the bracelet. For both jewelry items, Julia was in touch with me throughout the entire process which involved sketches, inspiration ideas, and CAD renderings, as well as 3D printed versions mailed out to me to check out the fit.
In the end, I ended up with two BEAUTIFUL custom jewelry items. My partner proposed with the ring a couple months after we received it (I didn’t look at in person until the proposal so the real-life version was a surprise) and I wear my claddagh bracelet with it in the “engaged” orientation and can’t wait to wear it soon in the “married” orientation. Thank you everyone at Earth’s Treasury! I am head over heels for my custom jewelry items and couldn’t recommend this...
