South Hanover Lanes — Local services in West Manheim Township

I would give it 3 stars for the experience, but that's just my personal opinion. Four stars because there wasn't anything "technically" wrong with the place. My friend and I went for glow bowling on a Saturday night, which just started back up again. We chose this place since it was cheaper than Hanover Bowling Centre (which is $65 for glow bowling, and with just 2 of us that wouldn't have been worth it). We called ahead and reserved a lane since that was recommended online, however it was dead when we got there with only 2 other groups there/3 other lanes in use. The place is small compared to other bowling alleys, but it wasn't an issue since it wasn't busy. My biggest complaint is they played Kids Bop music and 90s/2000s slow songs (such as I Hope You Dance - Lee Ann Womack) the entire time! It just wasn't what I expected out of glow bowling and have never been to a bowling alley quite like this one before. Others I have been to have large TV screens; loud, current pop music; and more of a "glow" theme. Don't get me wrong, I would have given this place 5 stars if I went and had taken young children with me, but that's not the case and the atmosphere I was expecting. I don't think it needed to be like a club scene or blasting expletives in every song, but it just wasn't what I anticipated. (Reading👀 some of these reviews) I'm ashamed to say I havnt bowled in years, but when I did, I always did prefer SHL🎳 ( I'm talkin' as far back as the 70s & 80s, and into the early 2000s ) instead of "that other place" on the north side of Hanover ... price💲-wise, atmosphere🎈🤹‍♂️🕺🤹‍♂️🎈-wise, food🍔🍟🍦-wise, cleanliness-wise, and pretty much all around-wise!🤷‍♂️

Of course, and thankfully🙌, the "old" SHL has been vastly revitalized under Randy-&-Debbie's wise stewardship into a 'good clean happy fun', family-oriented bowling establishment the south Hanover area can be very proud of! The nice treatment everyone is given is merely a testament to their innate Christian values and beliefs. To them, "all that glitters is not gold" ... and I personally and strongly commend them for forgoing the extra revenue💲💲 they might generate by peddling booze🚫🍻 🤚😝 to their customers. Thus, ensuring a nice, worry-free venue for all bowlers👨👩👴👵, the Hanover area's impressionable youth👧👦👨‍🎓👩‍🎓, and especially our young families👶👨‍👩‍👦‍👦👼

One of the thrilling experiences of visiting a bowling alley is having a chance to put your skills against those of family and friends. You put money on the line, play out your games, and compare scores. That is almost impossible to do here, because as soon as you break the hour you've paid for (Groupon or no), they shut off your lane. No warning. No chance to finish the game. This happened to us in the NINTH FRAME and infuriated all of the people playing. I understand wanting to make money, but honestly. With only ONE OTHER FAMILY in the place, they didn't have a rush of customers to appease, so why do this? Allow us to finish it out. But no. The shoes were new-ish, the balls were pretty greasy in the finger holes (not easy for us to grip), and with COVID still out there, only one sanitizing station hidden in the arcade area. Gonna head back to North Hanover Lanes instead. I suggest to skip this place, even with an "enticing...
