I recently had the pleasure of dining at Taphouse 6 in Pennsylvania, and I am happy to say it exceeded my expectations in nearly every way. From the delicious food to the attentive service, it was a memorable experience that I look forward to repeating.
The Food: The buffalo chicken quesadilla was an absolute standout! Perfectly cooked, the quesadilla struck the right balance between flavor and texture. The buffalo sauce was bold yet not overwhelming, coating the chicken evenly and providing a consistent kick of heat with every bite. The chicken itself was tender and well-seasoned, and the cheese added a rich creaminess that tied the dish together beautifully. The tortilla was crisp and golden, adding just the right amount of crunch to contrast the gooey interior. It was the best buffalo chicken quesadilla I’ve had in a long time, and I’m already craving it again.
Another highlight of the meal was the crab pretzel. The pretzel was soft, warm, and fresh, topped with a decadent crab dip that was perfectly seasoned and creamy. The combination of the chewy pretzel with the cheesy, savory crab topping was simply irresistible. It’s clear the kitchen knows how to deliver on bold, satisfying flavors.
The Service: The service was exceptional. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and seated promptly. The staff were attentive without being overbearing, checking in at just the right intervals to ensure we had everything we needed. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. The food arrived quickly and was presented beautifully. It’s rare to find such a seamless blend of efficiency and friendliness, but this team nailed it.
The Verdict: This restaurant delivered on every front—delicious food, great atmosphere, and top-notch service. The buffalo chicken quesadilla and crab pretzel alone are worth the visit, but the friendly and attentive staff make the experience even better. I can confidently say I’ll be returning soon, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic dining experience. Whether you’re stopping by for a casual meal or a special occasion, this place...
Read moreI would rate the food and service as average to mediocre nothing to write home about. Where I have a problem is with the automatic 10% added on called "hospitality ahead". At the bottom on the bill it says "please ask us about "hospitality ahead". Notify people when they sit down, so they know and can make the decision to walk out and eat elsewhere. If you want to do this good for you but do it in the back room after I tip what I feel is appropriate in accordance with the quality of food and service. It is my money and you have no right to dictate that.
Please understand that this is not about the tip! I regularly tip 20%, this is about the principal of it.
After posting my review on their facebook page I get this response from them.
“Thank you for sharing and we appreciate your comments. We can certainly understand this practice being met with skepticism especially if it is your 1st visit and it wasnt explained before you received the check. We do have table tents on every table but we can certainly do a better job to make sure it is communicated properly in the future. Thank you for dining with us and we sincerely hope you change your mind and return soon despite your dislike of the practice. As I always say...just because it may be different does not mean it is wrong. It's just a different way of getting to the same bottom line cost for our customers.”
This response was polite and professional, but it seems that the point has illuded them and they think that it is perfectly fine to dictate how and how much of your money you will tip.
As long as this policy is in place, I will not patronize this establishment again or any other that uses this policy.
When if this happens to me in the future at another establishment, I will not leave any additional tip and leave a note to the server on the back of the bill saying “since your employer feels that it is their right to dictate the amount of my gratuity then that is all you get. Just to be clear your tip would have been 20%. I suggest that you complain to your employer about then screwing you!” I suggest you all...
Read moreLet me start with the good - the burgers were pretty good and the TapHouse Lager was decent.
The Bad: We (a party of 2) were charged a 10% gratuity on our check.
The rest:
Beer *Limited Selection. I thought there would be a bigger selection at a place called "Taphouse." Also there was no listing of the beers on the website. *When we asked for a beer menu, we were given the servers notepad where she had the beers written down. We weren't given an actual beer menu.
Service *A little slow. We sat at the bar during a not super busy time of the day. We are chalking this up to everyone being understaffed. *We had to ask for napkins. We weren't given any silverware.
Food *Burgers were decent; but if you want LTO, make sure you ask for it. It doesn't come with it (unless it is specified on the description) and the server didn't ask if we wanted it.
The Check *Through no fault of the staff, the credit card machines were down when we were ready to pay our bill. That being said, we were told we could leave our CC number and they will run it when the machines are up again. I had to ask where the nearest ATM was. We weren't comfortable with just leaving a credit card number. *While I waited for my other half to run over to the ATM across the parking lot, no one asked if I would like a water or a complimentary beer. I guess like the napkins and LTO on a burger, if you want a water while you wait, you have to ask - they are not going to try and make it a pleasant dining experience.
It may have been an off day, they may have been understaffed, but all in all, I don't think we will be stopping in there...
