Due to a house flood we had to replace all of our furniture. After spending countless weekends making the rounds of all the furniture stores on New Haven Ave., and after dropping a lot of money at Baer's we made an impulse buy on a dining set at Kane's Furniture.
Set was delivered. The first thing I noticed is that one of the delivery guys had left boot prints at the entry way, LR and DR of wood floor. I said nothing but when they left I washed the floor – boot prints did not come up – they seemed to be oil based and mopping the floor actually made it worse. I took pics and called immediately. A damage report was created and Stanley Steamer was sent out to clean floors.
The dining set was glass top with extensions that pulled out of the sides and locked in place. Assembly man could not align the extensions but said the repair man would be out with “correct” tool in a couple of days, “he will be able to fix it.” Repair man was unable to fix. I called Kane's and told them about what had happened and that I did not want a replacement but rather a return. Thought the table feature was too temperamental and saw problems in the future.
The first thing I was told was they have an “approval” for a replacement. Approval? LOL! I told them I did not want a replacement – instead please take it back. I was told she would have to get approval. I said approval – why? She tells me “you accepted the table.” I had to explain I accepted it because I was told repairman could fix – he was not able to!
After being put on hold multiple times – I was informed that the return was “approved” and she quoted me amount of refund. It was less than amount of we paid. Would you believe they were not going to refund the delivery charge until I called them out on it.
Was told 7-10 days for refund check to arrive. It is now 2-weeks (or more) later and talking to several people (checking their records – asking questions) – put on hold, etc. etc. Finally talked to someone who found records and then quoted me lesser amount again. Had to explain the delivery charge is refundable and it was “approved” LOL.
2 weeks later refund never came. Called again - Rep said check never was cut or sent – she didn't have an explanation as to why. Was told it would be 7-10 days AGAIN.
Finally received check on 7/12 – a month after delivery...
Read moreI would give “0”, but it wouldn’t let me. This has been a long story for my son and daughter in law. The huge and very expensive sectional was purchased by them a few years back (around the Covid dilemma). To begin, the chaise lounge section had had to be replaced twice due to poorly constructed work. Then the recliner pieces have had to be replaced and repaired multiple times. One piece just recently had to have the entire carriage underneath completely taken out and replaced. The other recliner piece has had the motor replaced and/or repaired more than once. The last repairman said that he put in the new motor but that even though he attempted to realign the frame, the problem will reoccur. By then, the warranty will be expired. That repairman reported that the chair needs complete replacement. Upon being called by store, we were going to get replacement. When visiting Kane’s in Melbourne we’re told perhaps the whole sectional needs replacement. Then, they changed their mind. All they can get is store credit for another chair which will not match the existing pieces. Big difference, which is part of the lying and misrepresentation. There has been a lot of this by everyone from top to bottom trying to get out of poorly made furniture. Can they get something else for the house? Sure but the non-working chair will be taken away leaving a huge gap in the room. At the very least, they could have given up the non -working chair that can’t be sold since it doesn’t recline. Let them pick out something else of equal value for the home. Very little lost in Kane’s part to keep poor reviews from being written. This entire scenario could have been prevented with honest and forthright public relations . I guess they don’t care. Shame on them. By the way, I notice that they only respond to positive reviews. This means that they never intend to fix ANY problems that exist. Wait until those positive reviews from a short amount of time have problems. Where will the ...
Read moreMy wife and I thoroughly shopped for a living room couch back in January 2021 and after two weeks of shopping around we settled on a beautiful leather sectional at Kanes. There was another gray leather sectional at another furniture store but we placed the order with Kanes. We were told there would be a 6 week wait before our couch would be delivered. When the couch finally arrived it was missing the storage unit piece and was told they should have that piece in by mid March. We decided to have the couch delivered as we already removed the old one and had nothing to sit on. By mid March we recieved a call from David our salesman who has been wonderful throughout this process and he told us there was another delay. We would expect the storage unit now in mid April. We are expecting the unit to arrive April 9, 2021 and will see if that promise is kept or will we be told it had been delayed again. We inquired if we could get the floor model but was told that was not the policy of Kanes. Although we are satisfied with our salesman we are very disappointed with the broken promises and lack of willingness to find a compromise. Had we known that we would still be without our purchase 4 months later we would have purchased the alternate couch. We have a study and bedroom needing new furniture in the summer but will probably leave Kanes off of our shopping list. I had spoken to a friend of ours who experienced the same delay back in 2019 and they were not going back. I know this review is lengthy but wanted to share our experience with Kanes of Melbourne and warn anyone who purchases from there to be prepared for possible similar delays. Don Stanley
Update to my initial post. Kanes has reached out to me and explained the problem with my delay. They have corrected the problem and I am very satisfied with their service. Thank you and I will be back for any furniture shopping in the...
