First I want to say that the employees are WONDERFUL. This negative review is not about them but about the store itself and the technology there. This was my first time attending the store and I have never encountered a self-checkout so broken and inefficient in my life. First typing in your number for the card starts spamming you with all of these things that block the screen trying to get you to sign up for text and email alerts and will not close. Then the actual checkout machine must be running Windows 98. The poor employees dealt with two frozen machines in a row until eventually I went to regular check out who still had trouble getting the system to work properly. Essentially self-checkout machines there are so slow and broken and spammy that it completely defeats their purpose and forced the employees to exert three times as much labor for me to spend 10 times as much time to check out.
Also the store is old and run down without any decent selection of food, but even the sale prices are higher than regular ones all of the other grocery stores and Walmart in the area. So there's really no reason to go here. Give the employees a raise though cuz they did their best with what they had to work with (and being kind through my likely very visible...
Read moreI used to Shop here back in the day, when the store first opened. It was a 24-Hr wonderland of a supermarket. Over the years, it has gone way downhill. A couple of weeks ago, I bought a pound of Chipped Chopped Ham that was on special. I got it home, and I took a bite. It tasted OK, but it had a foul odor, like rotten meat. I had to throw it away. I wanted to make a home version of Isaly's Chipped Chopped Ham Sandwiches, instead, I could not pallet the smell of the meat. It must have been stored at the wrong temperature, but was still edible, because it was cured. It is typical of this supermarket. There is an awful smell of rotten food that hits the customer as soon as one walks in the front doors. I can not believe that they are acquiring a license to sell booze, and are going to keep this place open. Management! You need to fix the source of that foul smell, before you go any further. It's the truth. I have no interest other than being...
Read moreWhen this Shop 'n Save first opened, it was open 24-Hrs, and it was my favorite place to shop for food. It was a big modern supermarket. That was back in the 1980's, and the place hasn't been updated, since. Today, this Shop 'n Save is nothing like it was, years ago. The prices, on most items, are higher than the Giant Eagle, which is also overpriced. Much of the time, there are bad odors in this store. They have a discounted produce table that sells rotted produce that should go into the dumpster. One can come across old, discolored packages of meat, for sale in the coolers. Recently, I stopped into this store during peak hours, and the place was virtually empty. The way that it is being run, and with the lower priced competition that surrounds it, I don't see how this store can remain open...
