This was a pretty underwhelming experience to put it kindly. I've stayed at SpringHill Suites before in different locations and I don't expect The Ritz, but this stay felt pretty subpar. In fact, if this had been my first Marriott experience I wouldn't be an Elite member, I'd stay at Hiltons. The room was dirty, there was no high speed internet, just a generic guest unprotected WiFi network, breakfast was meh, there weren't any outlets near the bed except for the one being used by the light and alarm clock. I mean, come on, people need to plug in phones, laptops, medical devices or any number of devices and the hotel can't provide a basic light with and outlet on it like a cheap Motel 6 offers or any 2 1/2 star hotel provides. It's supposed to be a suite but there wasn't even a door to the bedroom so you can't use the TV and not wake up someone who is asleep. The door didn't respond 99% of the time to the app for unlocking it and you can't unlock the outside door with the app. My experience with this place was very disappointing to say the least and Marriott should look into the hotel and make sure it's not harming the brand. At least the door card is nice.

Pros: The breakfast was very good. A reasonable range of hot foods as well as yogurts, pastries etc. Staff were very helpful, the microwave inside the room didn’t fit our steriliser for the baby bottles and they let us use the one with the downstairs kitchen area. Cons: Pool was freezing! It was the main reason why we choose this hotel and unfortunately we couldn’t use it! Room was okay, but there was a number of dead flies around the window blind (digusting) obviously not want you want with a baby.

I’ve stayed here 5 times in the last 3 months now. A few things you should watch out for - Standing water in the tubs make for a slippery fall when you get in. The entrance on the left side of the hotel is always unlocked. They’ve used electrical tape to cover the lock - this prevents it from locking and keeping you safe. Overall staff at the front desk have no sense of what customer service is.

Fabulous, comfortable room on the third floor of the hotel. I love the architecture of the suites. I loved the colorful clean atmosphere as well as the offerings of different coffee in the lounge. The person who checked us in was very nice. Our room was excellent, a spacious suite with 2 double beds and a separate couch area for watching tv along with a desk area for business if needed. We very much appreciated having the fridge and other amenities. Suggestions: It would be good to make the lighting in the bathroom/shower area brighter and the towels newer, but I can't think of anything else that wasn't really excellent, comfortable, perfect. I could tell that management cares about details and makes sure that everything is clean, attractive, and comfortable. The temperature was exactly right too, which is hard to achieve in a hotel. I was able to go right to sleep and that can be difficult when you are travelling and not in your own bed.

Beyond that, on Saturday morning we came down for the complimentary breakfast a little after 10 and learned that we had just missed it. However the lady in charge went out of her way and offered to fix us two bags of items including bagel, hard boiled egg, v-8 juice (bc we couldn't drink oj and she kept offering drinks until she found one we liked!), yogurt, banana, muffin, cream cheese, and jam. Her extra help and attention were so much appreciated during a time when we were travelling and picking up elderly relatives, and did not have time for ourselves. How amazing that she stepped in and took care of us.

Details about the suite: Loved the colors, love the architecture, really liked the way the window was covered with an opaque screen-type shade and then the white "blackout" drapes. I loved that the sink area was separated from the toilet and bath which allowed us to get ready in separate rooms. The full length mirror was large and perfect and I loved that it was located centrally and in such a way that you could step back and actually see what you look like. Room temperature was just right, we did not have to make any adjustments. I loved the cotton sheets and bedding, they were very comfortable and I felt the use of cotton blankets was much more sanitary than the quilts and wool blankets that are in various other similar hotels. I was happy NOT to see any bedspread covering the bed nor any throw pillows as I consider them unsanitary. Shower pressure/water temp also great, and...

Upon arrival we welcomed with the smell of cigarettes being smoke outside the front lobby. My wife is an asthmatic and the smell of cigarettes can trigger her asthma. Once inside the clean and fresh lobby we were greeted by friendly staff who checked us in quickly and off to our room we went.

The room was underwhelming to say the least. We had requested the A/C be put to down and that we had 5 extra pillows. Unfortunately that request wasn't met. When I went down to the lobby to tell the staff I was told "Oh yeah I see that here...sorry". I had then ask for the 5 pillows which was greeted with an eye roll and scoff. Eventually the pillows were brought to our room and we settled in and ready to shower and sleep for the long weekend ahead.

My wife was first in line to shower (or so I thought). She went in to turn on the shower and came out saying there is something wrong with the shower head. I went in to take a look and ended up getting soaked by a broken shower head. After some quick engineering I was able to remedy the problem so we could shower without flooding the hotel room. While fixing the shower I noticed that the wall in the shower was broken/cracked and the drain looked to be at least 20 years old and heavily used. This wasn't a surprise as the rest of the room felt the same way.

As the night progressed and everyone was washed up I went to open the sofa bed for my son. Unfortunately nothing was given to us at check in so back to the lobby I had to go again for something else. I was given a bedding set and told the policy that Marriot has about keeping the extra bedding in the room. I totally understand that policy, but upon check-in the staff should have know that 3 people were checking into a one bedroom room.

Marriott has always been a name synonymous with quality. We experienced many more things like...

-Light switches that don't work -Clogged toilets in the lobby -Staff often talking about personal things. Such as the girl who checked us in who was on her last day and didn't want to be stuck seeing the manager come in. -Pool being closed -Ice machines not working well -Refrigerators not feeling cold enough to keep food safe. -Light Switches that didn't turn anything on or off. -Dim lighting in the rooms

This list doesn't sound like what a Marriot should be. When I come back next year for the large BMX race I will make sure to recommend another...

We have a group of rooms for our family who are in town for a funeral. Shortly after we all checked in yesterday, the maid started walking into our rooms. She did not knock, she simply was walking down the hall using her key card to walk in and then leave again. She was completely unapologetic to any of us as she invaded our privacy. When she was confronted in the hall to find out what she was doing, she said she was looking for her cigarettes. We complained at the front desk and got a roll of the eyes and "I'll talk to her." I returned and asked to talk to the general manager and was told that he wouldn't be In till the next day. I cannot imagine that an incident of this sort did not warrant a phone call to the GM at home. It seemed apparent that the maid was on some sort of drugs and management is thoroughly disengaged with the day-to-day operation of the facility. We all would have checked out were it not for the size of our party and the difficulty in moving such a large group. We all asked that maid service not enter our rooms again during this stay. We really did not even receive an assurance that they could accomplish that. We are going to the funeral today with all of our valuables with us because we do not trust that things will be safe In our rooms. Without a doubt we will not be back. There are several other hotels within a stones throw of this one. I recommend staying at one of those.

As an update I asked to speak to the general manager last night, he is unwilling to speak to me. Instead the assistant manager approached me and apologized but was generally dismissive of the entire incident. Apparently they feel sympathy for her because if a guest had found her cigarettes I the room she would have gotten in trouble so basically it was okay that she walked in on numerous members of our family to try to find her cigarettes. The assistant manager, Leann Papson, was also quite dismissive of the incident and more concerned with protecting the maid than worrying about the privacy of guests or the security of...
