Customer satisfaction is absolutely last on the list of things this store is concerned about. I have had many positive purchases with little problem. Items are typically a bit cheaper in quality but also cheaper in price, so if it is something you are purchasing multiple of anyway might as well get a good deal.
My reason for rating it one star is due to a terrible interaction after purchasing the pouches of what is supposed to be live but dormant strawberry roots. I purchased four packages containing 10 Roots each. Spent a lot of time researching different strawberry options locally and decided for our large strawberry patch this looked like the best deal with overall satisfaction online. I looked up the company and customer experiences and followed all of the suggestions closely.
I saw no action so I dug up one of the spots where I knew there were some roots and it was a crispy rope like mess. The plants were clearly dead instead of dormant. Out of 40 plants I have had a success rate of zero. No not a huge price tag, $25 about. But the response from customer service about a discount on new plants rather than just replacing the old was very frustrating. There is no guarantee on any of their plants, so why spend more money to take the risk again when it was a defective product to begin with?
While I will still purchase cheap products that I expect to break from them for a good rate, I will not by anything that I have any sort of expectation from. Be prepared for dissatisfaction when dealing with...
Read moreI am beyond disappointed and disgusted with my experience at the Ocean State Job Lot in Westborough, Massachusetts. It’s the middle of winter, so naturally, I entered the store fully zipped up in my jacket to stay warm. But instead of a normal shopping experience, I was followed around by a few employees, who seemed more intent on watching my every move than offering assistance. This behavior made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
To make matters worse, when I went to checkout, the situation took a dark turn. I was informed that security had been called and was accused of stealing—something I absolutely did not do. The claim was that "the manager saw me put something under my jacket," but I had never even removed my jacket during my entire visit. This false accusation was not only completely unfounded, but also highly unprofessional. I am appalled by the blatant racial profiling I experienced, and it’s clear that the employees involved have no regard for customer dignity or basic respect.
I demand an apology for being treated this way. The way I was unjustly accused and made to feel criminal was not only hurtful but completely unacceptable. This is not how any customer should be treated, especially when they’ve done nothing wrong. I will not be returning to this location, and I highly suggest that anyone else looking for an stress-free shopping experience avoid this store...
Read moreAs I was browsing the aisles of Ocean State Job Lot, I couldn’t help but notice something unsettling. A young Black woman was shopping just like the rest of us, but unlike the rest of us, she was being shadowed. Every time she moved, so did the employees. Watching her, whispering to one another. I wanted to believe it was just a coincidence, but the tension in the air said otherwise.
When she approached the checkout, A worker stepped in, claiming they had seen her put something under her jacket. The shock on her face was immediate—she hadn’t even unzipped her coat. Security was called before she could even defend herself. The accusation was flimsy, built on nothing but assumption, yet the employees stood firm, treating her like a criminal in front of everyone.
I watched as her face shifted from confusion to anger, then to something heavier—resignation. She knew exactly what was happening. We all did. This wasn’t about shoplifting. This was about profiling.
It was disgusting. I felt frozen, but also complicit in my silence. Should I have spoken up? Should I have demanded they show proof before humiliating an innocent person? By the time I found my voice, she was already leaving, shaking her head in frustration.
She deserved better. We all do. No one should be made to feel like a suspect just...
