Dunns Corner Market — Local services in Westerly

Really good for prepared meals and sandwiches. Typically really good butcher and knowledgeable about different meats but...

...I went there over a week ago (on a Wednesday) looking for a 3 lb brisket (needed it for a recipe). He walked over to where, I guess, the briskets are.

He picked up the only piece of meat in that section but that looked like a large steak. I was expecting something wrapped in string.

But, they're the experts (and I'm not), so he weighed it and I saw that it was only 1.75 lb.

Not what I needed.

He said they were getting a delivery on Friday and to come back. I was disappointed, because I wanted to make it that day, but I totally get that they were out of stock. And that was the last of the brisket they had.

I couldn't make it back until Sunday. I again walked in and asked for a 3-lb brisket. He looked back to the same area the last guy looked. Picked up the only brisket there and that looked eerily familiar but was now vacuum sealed.

Meanwhile none of the other meat in the case is vacuum sealed.

While he was about to weigh it I thought if that thing weighs 1.75 this is that same dusty meat I didn't buy on Wednesday. But now it's gray.

To his credit, he went to go look in the back to see if they had any others and there were none.

But the fact that that meat was still sitting there four days later and clearly past its prime, totally turned me off to buying meat from...

My husband and I are newcomers to the area we stopped by to stock up on a few things for the freezer I saw what I thought was the sweet Italian sausage tray was empty so I asked the guy behind the meat counter if there was more He pointed to the other tray that looked like hot sausage and asked how much I wanted I asked again if it was sweet he said yes we bought 5 my husband gear this exchange I have now ruined two meal with his little error it is so hot I can’t eat it Why would someone behind a meat counter do that?not coming back wanted u to know he isn’t doing...
