The butterfly house is a wonderful place, but I am extremely displeased with the garden center. My husband explained that we were creating a catnip area in our yard for our cats, and themes sold us professional growing mix soil that specifically says avoid breathing the dust, avoid contact with eyes, open sores, cuts, wash hands thoroughly after use. Keep away from pets and children. I immediately scooped my cats out of it and washed them down. When we contacted them, Barsonâs response was âthatâs just being overly cautious.â If Iâm asking the professional for advice, I would expect what you recommend for my cats doesnât have a warning that says keep away from pets and children. I will not purchase from here again. đĄ If I could give it 0 stars I would.
Update: While I can understand the ownerâs response below, the issue is that the decision as to what I expose my cats to should ultimately be mine. Barsonâs should have informed me that the packaging has a warning, then he was free to give me his opinion and I could make a decision. As it was, we couldnât see the warning on the package as they were stacked and they loaded them directly to the vehicle. Because the response on the phone when we called to complain was simply that essentially society is paranoid about the product, I ended up spending additional money to buy plain topsoil from...
Read moreBarson's has become an important part of our holiday traditions. We look forward to choosing our Barson Christmas tree every year.
Pros: Trees are hung so that you can fully examine them for fullness. It's quite charming since it creates a little forest. Trees last the whole season with proper care and watering. Prices are competitive with u-pick farms, without the hassle of tromping through acres of trees that aren't symmetrical, cutting it down, dragging it back. Barson's sells the necessary accessories for your tree, like stands. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Cons: There really aren't any.
Suggestions:
As someone who likes to get the most out of the holiday season, it would make me incredibly happy if they starting making their trees available sometime in the week before Thanksgiving. I like to decorate the tree the week before, and have previously gotten our tree elsewhere since the other place was open sooner, and I was impatient/excited. I regretted it, for both hassle, quality of tree, and...
Read moreStopped for a few pond plants and browsed for a while. You almost can't help yourself from browsing while you're there. đ Enjoyed the pond FULL of huge Koi and a couple cat fish and found the butterfly house super fun and knowledgeable on a few species I had not read much about. They were giving away caterpillars that day, if you bought the host bush of their parents. (I forget which caterpillar / bush, but heard they do it often with different kinds. I did buy some bronze fennel as it looked very interesting as a mature plant that I saw in the butterfly house. They had a nice assortment of native plants and wonderful, "not the norm" herbs. I was able I was able to pick up four pond plants and a wonderful bronze fennel like I had seen in the butterfly house. They had a great selection of native plants and herbs you typically do not find. I'd recommend going to browse and definitely check out the Koi pond and...
