Unfortunately, our stay at a condo listed on VRBO as "Parkside Adventure: Resort Oasis, Water Park, 15 Min to Magic!" was far from what was advertised and as a result, we left after the first night. Property address is 4741 Clock Tower Dr #108 at Story Lake Resort.
The property was dirty upon arrival, with a filthy shower curtain in one bathroom, dirty windows & floors throughout. A missing handle on the shower door in the other bedroom made it nearly impossible to use. The water also had a strong odor.
The lock on the sliding back door did not work which made us feel extremely uneasy, especially at night when we heard yelling in the parking lot. My husband had to use a broom stick to somewhat secure the door enough for us to sleep.
The air conditioning was unreliable. Upon arriving, the unit was at 82 degrees. We lowered the temp but woke up in a sweat due to the AC going back up to 82 in the middle of the night. The beds were some of the most uncomfortable we’ve ever experienced in a rental—thin mattresses where you could feel every spring. One of the bedrooms only had sheets on it and the pillows were all very small.
There were other issues but these were the main concerns. Overall, the property felt neglected and poorly maintained. We expected much more for the price we paid and would not stay here again or recommend it to others.
Although they fixed the lock and replaced the shower curtain, we were forced to book another hotel for the rest of our stay due to the condition and safety concerns at this property. We only stayed 1 of the 7 nights that we originally booked.
MY RESPONSE TO THE OWNER'S COMMENTS BELOW: (7/8/25): Nothing from my review is inaccurate. We have stayed in many VRBO's and have never had a bad experience. This property should not be listed as a rental if basic cleanliness, working locks, a working AC, a shower door with a handle to open it, a sanitary shower curtain, water that does not wreak of sewage, etc is too much to ask.
One more thing- what is device with missing parts over the shower? Is it a smoke detector that has been taken apart and now exposed to water? Or some sort of shady video recording device?
Either way- we knew we were not safe in this very unsanitary rental and left as soon as we found somewhere else to stay. Thankfully so too, as I have read other reviews about multiple cars being vandalized within this complex during the time we were there.
I posted this same review on the VRBO website but it still has yet to show up. Only 2 reviews with great ratings are attached to this property which shows that they will not allow the bad reviews.

Read moreWe stayed at one of their locations at 20783 Duxbury Terrace, Ashburn, VA 20147, United States. It was a beautiful place in the photos and is beautiful in person. However, we had major issues with Newman Hospitality.
We paid $1,029 for 3 nights and the first night there was no hot water. Huge beautiful bathtub in the master bedroom only pushes out cold water after a 14 hour travel was so upsetting. 😭 I hadn’t seen my wife in a month.
We contacted them and they said to try the breaker box so we did and nothing changed. Their customer service is pretty robotic as well and seems auto generated. The first night went by which sucked so bad because we have two children as well and I was fixing their bathtub so it didn’t back up with water (this was the second bathroom with issues). The water in this bathroom was either scorching hot or freezing cold and was near impossible to find the middle ground. You would turn the knob a hair and it just was too hot.
It gets worse….how on earth every faucet was responding differently was beyond me. It is 3 levels so there may be issues with the plumbing. 2nd day arrives and still haven’t heard from them on a resolution. The water was absolutely cold. We found that in certain bathrooms we needed to run the water for about 15-20min.
They responded halfway through the 2nd day that they were trying to contact their maintenance man. (He never showed the entire trip even though they said he did we were at the house)
I was the one leading the way for their team and trying to communicate while it seamed I was just a dollar sign to them. It was definitely all transactional and not relational.
Andy the owner offered me a lousy $200 bucks for the inconvenience. The daily inconvenience. The owner gains everything and the guest gets nothing kind of deal. That’s not even a full day of our trip. Atleast give the cleaning fee back. Sad sad 😞 leadership and customer service this guy.
Moral of the story. The team failed horribly. This is coming from someone who runs multiple businesses myself. I wouldn’t recommend their locations just because in the event something goes wrong good luck!

Read moreI rented a house in Naples to address concerns about my date, disabled daughter. The air conditioning that was complained about an a previous review was never corrected. The review was a year ago when I got into the house the two rooms were so hot. I had to sleep on the couch. I contacted this hospitality group, and I have never encountered such an unprofessional business. they had me on the phone For two hours trying to get Maintenance to fix the air conditioning while my daughter was screaming. They were rude and condescending and as promised to address this in the morning, I have not heard from them at all. The freezer is leaking on the floor. I have rented and have wonderful review about myself through Airbnb. I have never run into lack of a response to a client, especially one with A sick child I’m trying to take care of. They seem like the type of businesses that put you on hold and want to annoy you enough to just get rid of you renting homes in Naples Florida is very competitive and I beg anybody renting From the Newman hospitality group to reconsider renting from another group. My daughter had a hard time sleeping in the room because it was so hot and she has medical conditions. I will be addressing this as soon as I can with hopefully somebody higher up then the useless person that had me on hold for 20 minutes hung up on me and never corrected the problem. update, even more has gone wrong with the house. The bathroom flooded from the base of the toilet. The shower head doesn’t work in the same bathroom. There are millipedes crawling around the house. I filed a grievance with Airbnb. They are getting a hold of the host which still are not getting back to me, his name is Sergio and Rhod Because the air-conditioning only works in the center of the house and the bedrooms are sweltering hot.
