Experience was very bad and will not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food is not worth the long waiting time and money we pay and disrespect and rudeness to customers to top it.
It all started the moment we walked into the restaurant. We stood at the front door for an eternity to be seated. It was around 2.00 at noon. The restaurant was not crowded, I noticed only few tables had guests and more than half of the tables in the restaurant were empty, as the peak time is already over. The waiters were talking to each other and walking around. But no one bothered to come to us and take us to a table.
Finally after a long wait ( with a toddler :-( ) at the reception a school/college kid working as a waiter in the restaurant helped us seated. The tables and decor were okey but tables/floor needed clean up, but its just after the peak time so I can understand that.
The kid (who helped us seated) took our order. We ordered a drink they advertised at the entrance on a "speciality" black board. The waiter later came back and said that drink is not available which came as a surprise. And it appeared the waiter didnt have knowledge on the drinks served in the restaurant (moscato vs prosecco). Again, not a problem, he just started learning the trade.
There was again a big wait (un-acceptable this time) for the food to arrive at the table. The food was not bad but I have been to other Italian restaurants in the area that serves tastier, better quality, more authentic Italian food. The food was served by a guy who introduced himself as manager. We immedietly noticed a ton of bad attitude/ego and negative energy comming out of him. He served us food without plates and knife/fork. Rookie mistake from the manager of the restaurant! After food is served waiters were nowhere to be seen and no one bothered to check on us. At the end, we had to wait for another 15 mins so we can signal the manager for the check. I found this very unprofessional.
Now, this is when all the fun part started. We were trying to signal the waiters for their attention so we can pay for the food and get out of that place. After 15 mins of failed attempts, nobody bothered to even look at us, the manager and a waiter (another school/college kid) came near our table and manager was talking angrily (from intensity of interaction and body language) at him in another language that I couldn't understand. I found this very unprofessional in front of customers. And they didn't even notice us sitting there signaling for their attention.
So we said "excuse me". Nobody listened. We called louder this time to catch the attention. The manager heard and came to us. We asked for check, he came back with the check angrily saying that we need to behave and we shouldn't yell at people. Whoa! We asked "when did we yell"? And we re-iterated that we only said "excuse me" and it's the polite form to ask for something. Thats when he called us racist. I didn't see that coming. And he started shouting at us. He also said he will call police. What did we do to be racist? Considering the large amount of Melanin in my skin only an ignorant will call me racist. Remember, he did all this in front of my toddler son not evening thinking how thats going to affect him. The fact is they didn't attend to us and they didn't serve us food with respect and dignity that we deserve as fellow human beings. We are the victims if we really think about it from the race angle. Any ways, we didn't want to set a bad example to our son, so we paid the bill and then walked out of the restaurant. The manager came running and closed the door behind us and told us he doesn't need our business (after swiping my credit card. Haa!). So does this mean the restaurant is only for...
Read more05/05/19 - My kids and I were starving today and had about 45 minutes to eat before church. I googled Italian restaurants and “La Torretta” showed up. Once we got there everything looked pleasant, our waiter Sebastian took about 15 minutes to come to our table, we placed our order immediately as we were in a hurry. 30 minutes later my kids were complaining about the wait and that they were hungry! my waiter were no where to be found, so I asked another waitress to please call him. He came with an attitude and asked: Is anything wrong? I politely said: I am in a hurry and the kids are hungry, could you please check on our food? SEBASTIAN replied with a terrible attitude: YOUR FOOD IS IN LINE AND YOU HAVE TO WAIT, IT WILL TAKE ABOUT 15 to 20 MINUTES MORE, DO YOU WANT IT TO GO?? I said: No, I’m going to church and my kids need to eat, I just wanted to check if the food are on it’s way! He continue: IF YOU DONT WANT TO WAIT, FEEL FREE TO WALK AWAY. and he Left!! I could not believe what just happened in front of my 6 e 8 year old. I called the manager and she apologized but didn’t care much to solve anything, she even said: Sebastian is overwhelmed. I asked her to send another waiter than, but nobody else came to our table to check on water or if we need anything else, Sebastian was passing by and didn’t even look at us. I didn’t know if the food was still coming or if he canceled it after he told me to walk away. We felt humiliated but waited and the food finally came, we totally lost our appetite but ate a little, there was still more than half of the plate there, and no one cared to ask if we wanted to take it home nor come to give me the bill, I had to get up with my kids, go to the hostess, ask for the check and pay there at the door. I WAS INCREDIBLY MISTREATED AND I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AT THIS RESTAURANT, we were never treated that way before and will NEVER come back or recommend this place to anyone. STAY AWAY!! I hope the owner of this restaurant is able to read this review and make sure his employees start treating people that are paying to eat there...
Read moreWent to dinner at an early hour (5:30pm) on a Wednesday with my wife. We were seated immediately by the hostess. Our very gracious waiter, German, appeared shortly and returned several times because we were studying the menu. I told him that I was torn between two dishes. He responded that while both were good , one of them was one of his personal favorites; that was the Baked Snapper and I ordered that. My wife was musing over the Chicken Marsala so I asked him what were his two favorite chicken entrees. One of the two he mentioned was the Chicken Florentine. I noticed that this was served on a bed of spinach and Jeremy mentioned that it was served in a Marsala sauce. My wife ordered that. The presentation and the flavor of the Baked Snapper was absolutely fabulous!! The spinach bed of the Chicken Florentine did not meet the superior standard set by the entree and its sauce. The portion sizes also exceeded our expectations. Last but not least the bread served while we were waiting to order included several garlic rolls which I must describe as the most amazing amuse-bouche I have had the good fortune to taste. All in all a memorable evening. We are visiting from out-of-town but will definitely return here before we leave. As with virtually all restaurants, for maximum effect your first visit should be at a non-peak hour on a weekday; even the best kitchens can be challenged when the customer crush “blows...
