WESTWEGO DMV OUTSTANDING SERVICE!!!!!!!!! My son and I got there at 7am and we were 3rd in line. When the doors opened up at 8am we had number 34. I guess they do not start over at number 1 every day. After waiting about 5 minutes in the waiting area our number was called. The young lady working desk number 1, Amanda, was a pleasant surprise to encounter at the DMV. As she processed the paper work for my son’s first driver’s license she also answered 2 incoming calls and responded to questions from 3 customers that just came into the office to ask a question. The entire process took 33 minutes. I waited outside the DMV longer than it took my son and me to get his license. The only problem I had was that the form I filled out in advance from the Louisiana’s DMV website was outdated and the form was missing VERY important information. I will explain. As of September 2013 ALL teen age drivers 17 yrs. old and under MUST have a letter from their high school stating that the student is in good attendance and this form MUST be signed by the school in BLUE ink. My son and I were unaware of the requirement, My BAD. As I reviewed the form to ensure I had ALL of the necessary paper work, one item under the ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATS SEVENTEEN AND UNDER section reads “A completed Certification of Required Attendance form (effective September 16, 2013).” This is the form my son needed to get from his school that MUST be signed in BLUE ink. I think it needs to be spelled out ON THE FORM, that this from is supplied by the high school. Can you imagine going to the DMV on the West bank Expressway and waiting for over two hours to be told that you do not have ALL the paper work required? Ever since returning to Louisiana in 2013, we've dreaded having to go to the DMV. You had to go early and stand in line outside until the Office opened and deal with the extreme heat, rain or cold. NOT ANY MORE! Thursday morning. I had to go to a business in Westwego and since I had to make the short trip from Gretna I checked to see if possibly there was a DMV Office nearby. Sure enough, the DMV was less than 20' and on the same side of the street. We would normally go to a local title place that provides almost all of the same services as DMV for a very nominal fee and you're done in less than 30 minutes, even when it's crowded. There are some things that only DMV can handle and the Westwego Office is inside the Westwego City Hall. I got a number from the machine and had a seat in the large waiting room that could probably hold 30-40 people. My wait was about 30 minutes and the young ladies in the Office area helped me clear up my problem, renewed the registration for both of my vehicles and issued my Disabled Parking Placard.

It’s a shame that you arrive here at this office on 4th street city hall / motor vehicle department and there is no one being seen this is your first time here and you go through the doors just to go ask a question and the rudeness that came from within terrible the young African American Woman with the braids so rude and very inconsiderate you can here the employees in the back laughing and having a great time meanwhile it’s so close to them getting off and they are only taking one person at a time we meaning me and my wife got here at 2:38 pm it is now 3:15 pm and it’s about 17 people in the lobby waiting to be seen and it’s wrong if the employees are not willing to work maybe they should go home and let someone who doesn’t mind helping people we should not just be sitting here and not being serviced I don’t want to give any stars I give a no star get it...
