As the Executor of my mother's estate, I needed someone to appraise a few items of jewelry. A friend recommended Sterling Jewelers, so I stopped by. I was pleasantly and quickly greeted, and the first associate talked me through the details and costs. I was then able to talk to Dina, the appraiser, who explained that there are multiple types of appraisals and the complexities involved with appraising a specific antique diamond ring. Dina was amazing to work with over a period of 2 weeks, with repeated calls to discuss specific details. She gave me the information and time needed to understand options and issues, and to discuss them with others involved with the estate. When I picked up the jewelry, I got to talk with the owner, Don, about additional details and options regarding the now-appraised estate jewelry, including potentially selling one or more items. Don took the time to answer my questions and ensure that I left with everything I needed to communicate with estate beneficiaries and make the required decisions. A wonderful experience and great...
Read moreI have been a customer of Sterling Jewelers for around 20 years. They are family opened in Wethersfield since 1947. They have excellent customer service and always stand behind their products and services. For example if they replace your watch battery, they stand behind it for a year after purchase, while other jewelry stores do not. Recently I took my expensive watch in for a simple repair ( crack in the crystal face ). The watch was still working. It had to be sent back to the factory for the replacement repair. Unfortunately the package containing the watch was lost by the post office and never arrived at the factory. Don Unwin the owner of Sterling Jewelers replaced my watch with a brand new one after allowing time to see if the package could be located. I have had several other different watches sent out by Sterling Jewelers for repairs over the years and never had one get lost in the mail before. NOW THAT IS CUSTOMER SERVICE ( with a smile)....
Read moreReally awkward experience. I went in today looking for a gift for my mom. I described to the saleswoman what I was looking for and showed her the earings I had purchased from Kay jewelers the day before (I wanted to coordinate a necklace) She seemed super uninterested in interacting with me. She opened one of the cases for me to look at some options. When I told her I was looking for something simple in the $300 range she seemed even more uniterested to sell. She proceeds to tell me that this case is all they have for my price range and walked away. The entire exchange felt so weird. She was silent the entire time. As I was walking away to go to Kay jewelers next door I saw another case with lots of options. Not once did she mention that case or gave me any other ideas etc. I ended up buying a necklace but probably never again. The experience I had a Kay jewelers the day prior...
