This was the saddest dining experience I’ve ever had. I do not place blame on the wait staff at all. They seemed to have been dealing with an impossibly challenging situation in the back and there was little they could do to remedy it. When we walked in, the waitress warned us that they were out of many menu items. We should have turned around then but how were we to know to what extent that would impact our dinner? As we made our order, the waitress kindly let us know when some items were out and we pivoted to others instead. No big deal. Then the bibimbop came out and we were told “the sauce” would come out soon. We watched the bibimbop sizzle away for 10min and then soy sauce was brought out for it. Not gochujang. We asked several times for gochujang and were told that they were making it in the back, and then that they would try to find some for us, and finally we were told that they did not have any. I repeat: this Korean restaurant did not have gochujang. So after watching our bibimbop sizzle away for 15min, our hunger got the better of us and we eventually just ate it plain. Then, the soon dubu came out. No rice. We politely asked if we could have some rice with it and were told that they were making it. We waited 20min for the rice. The mushroom soon dubu was bland and they just used button mushrooms. You’re better off getting some BCD Tofu House soon dubu packets instead (which are so good, if you haven’t tried). We were so disappointed by this experience. It seems like they had some terrible supply issues and should have just shut down for the night instead of serving us below standard meals. Considering that they were out of gochujang, I think they were adjusting recipes for their shortages and still serving them to us, instead of just telling us that they were missing ingredients and couldn’t make them. They seem to have great reviews though, so I’d like to think any other time they actually are able to make and serve quality Korean dishes, but tonight was certainly not their time. Definitely not worth the $67 we paid for 3 dishes. If you know your Korean dishes, don’t go on a Sunday night when management shamelessly sells you subpar food that is missing key...
Read moreSigh. Hyped to see a Korean soft tofu spot out in Wethersfield but left much to be desired. Good food and bad service are a hallmark of high quality ethnic food spots. Food wise, the flavors were solid but the LA Galbi was by far the toughest Galbi I have ever had in my entire life with some pieces even being inedible, super disappointing. And oh boy, don’t get me started on the banchan (I’ll get into that later with the service). We had to repeated flag down our server who was clearly understaffed as she kept running between numerous tables. Once we ordered, banchan came out quickly and then food followed after about 15 minutes. Expecting unlimited banchan (like literally any Korean restaurant ever in existence) we ate the initial banchan while waiting for our meal. Once the soft tofu and Galbi came out, the banchan were already finished and so a good server would notice this and bring out more banchan on their own or at least ask. Unfortunately, we had to follow up 3 separate times throughout the course of our meal for more only to finally be told at the last time when we were practically already done with our food that they were running low. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, set that expectation from the beginning as I would have easily paced my initial banchan consumption with meal having known that but it totally ruined my meal not having banchan as part of it to cleanse my palate with the side dishes. If setting that expectation in the beginning is embarrassing, then it should be a sign to management to make sure the kitchen doesn’t run out of banchan for service. They’re literally mostly pickled items so it’s not even like they’re going to go bad or something....
Read moreI came here for dinner with my family after looking up local places to try on TikTok, this one stood out to us so we made a plan to try it. It was our first time here and the experience was an adventure. After we ordered our drinks we decided to try a variety of things on the menu, steamed dumplings, bulgogi, fried pork with sweet and sour sauce, beef fried rice, and chicken udon. The waitress came back with a variety of sides, and we weren't sure if we should eat them, or wait for our food, and at first we each tasted a little bit of all the sides, my favorites were the spicy cucumber salad, the kimchi, and the lotus root. We looked around and noticed other people were picking at them so we decided to continue to try and enjoy all of those tasty treats. The waitress was incredibly nice. When our food arrived everything was very good. The dumplings were huge and very flavorful. The fried pork was crisp and crunchy and the sauce was the perfect balance between sweet and tangy. The bulgogi for me was the show stopper, if my family wasn't so adverse to spice I would've gone for the spicy one, but they are unable to handle happiness I'm afraid. The rice was okay, it was a little dry and not a lot of flavor, but it had a lot of vegetables and eggs in it. The udon was amazing, it did leave me feeling like a novice at my chopstick skills with the slippery noodles, a challenge I may spend quite a bit of time leveling up on, the flavors were so good and the chicken was very tender and juicy. I can't wait to return and try other items on the menu and possibly see what they recommend. Price was reasonable, food was plentiful, the experience was fun...
