THE BEST INDIAN RESTAURANT I'VE EVER BEEN TO. Although I am not of Indian descent, I cook Indian vegetarian entrees every single day at home. To me it seemed as if the masalas were all freshly ground, the sauces were made from freshly pureed vegetables, and the masalas were cooked through perfectly. I highly highly recommend DALCHI KHUMB KADAI, a delectable gravied mushroom and rajma dish..... I'm nearly drooling just reflecting on this. My belly is still glowing with glee! The rice was perfectly cooked and adorned with a few presumably fresh matar, and the spinach and cheese naan was as scrumptious as it was indulgent. At first I thought the "ginger penecillin" cocktail was enjoyable but a bit odd tasting, although when the food was served, I realized how truly masterfully it complimented the flavors of the meal. Brilliant! The ambiance is relaxing, replete with flowing fountains and Gir-like plant decor. Our waiter was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was rather crowded, full of joyful hungry visitors, but did not feel like the noise level was inappropriate or distracting. My dinner partner ordered chicken korma, and although I did not sample it myself, she reported it to be equally delicious. The menu is a little pricey compared to other local establishments with similar fare, however, I believe this restaurant earnestly earns the higher price...and I do not make that statement lightly. This restaurant was a profound delight. I cannot wait to return and sample more of their selections. I've been thinking fondly about how sincerely perfect this meal was for the last 2 days..... Smiling and salivating.... It's that sort of pleasure hangover that one experiences upon returning from a dream vacation or the perfect date that you just can't get out of your mind. Well done Utsav! I will be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know....

As a Canadian and avid traveler who has enjoyed Indian cuisine across Canada, the U.S., New Zealand, and even the Cook Islands, I can confidently say that Utsav Indian Cuisine in Wethersfield is the best Indian food I’ve had—anywhere.
From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is elegant, welcoming, and relaxing, with a beautifully designed interior, cozy seating, and a tranquil pond feature that sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience.
But it’s the food that truly sets Utsav apart. As a vegetarian, I was blown away by the quality and depth of flavor in every dish I tried. The Paneer Masala was rich and perfectly spiced, the Paneer Makani was creamy and comforting with a luxurious tomato base, and the Paneer Shahi was beautifully aromatic and indulgent. Every bite was bursting with authentic flavor, clearly crafted with care and culinary expertise.
The service was equally impressive—genuinely friendly, attentive without being intrusive, and happy to accommodate spice preferences or help with recommendations. The staff made us feel completely taken care of, adding to the already warm and inviting ambiance.
Utsav’s extensive menu offers something for everyone, whether you're a seasoned lover of Indian cuisine or trying it for the first time. The attention to detail, the vibrant flavors, and the consistent quality make this restaurant stand out far above the rest.
If you're in Connecticut, this is a must-visit. And if you're not, it’s worth making the trip. Utsav has completely redefined my standard for Indian food—I’ll be back every time I’m...
Read moreThis is by far my favorite Indian restaurant. In fact, it has become one of my top 3-5 overall restaurants anywhere. Period. I suppose that some people could find something negative to say about any place they dine at, but I would not take those people very seriously if they said anything negative about Utsav. It just isn't accurate. This restaurant has top notch service, an incredibly extensive menu comprised of Indian dishes from Kerala to northern Indian cuisine, plus some dishes that are from "outside" the straight Indian tradition as well. I have sampled many, many things on this multi-page menu, and I've never had food I did not appreciate here. Chicken, lamb, shrimp, vegetarian, even fish and goat dishes are available, and the staff will vary the spice level to taste as well. In fact, it's quite possible to order entrees that are not spicy at all, if that's your thing. (However, try the "Mandrasi Prawns" or "Chettinadu" if you like bold cooking :) The drink menu is outstanding too. What I like most about Utsav is that from the moment you step in the door you feel like the ownership and staff wants you to have a tremendous time, without feeling rushed. It has an elegance that is never "stuffy".
I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to experience great cuisine from this part of the world, prepared in a clean and thoughtful way and served with impeccable taste. As for price, you get what you pay for, but I would not consider Utsav to be anything horribly costly, and for what you get it's an...
