Very rude manager. On March 24th around 8pm, my boyfriend and I decided to grab a premixed bottle of Bacardi. On the shelf the price was listed as $10.99. At the register it rang up as $16.99. As the girl at the register looked lost and kept saying, "I don't know what to do." She finally called the manager who was at the back of the store (Sam). During this I asked my boyfriend to go recheck the price to make sure so we werent wasting anyone's time. My boyfriend snapped a photo of the price tag so they wouldn't have to run back and forth. Sam, the manager, went to check the shelf price after a few minutes of taking his time to come to the front in the first place. He walked up and instantly in a VERY accusatory tone, asked my boyfriend why he took a photo in the first place. I stepped in and said I asked him to check the price just so I was sure I seen $10.99. Again he faught with us, saying, "I don't get why you had to take the photo. And the shelf tags were switched." My boyfriend asked, "I was just checking the price....are you accusing me of switching the tags?" The manager woke up and realized what he had been saying and the way he was saying it, yet grudgingly said, "No. It's fine, I'll take care of it." Granted he took care of it in the end, his tone was extremely unnecessary and his manners to a frequent rewards customer was absolutely astounding. I will never be going back to this Binny's again sadly. My boyfriend and I have worked in retail for 4 years and never have we witnessed a customer being accused to switching tags and having to fight for a price change that was the...
Read moreI visited Binny’s to help my husband carry merchandise for purchasing, and I was rudely and immediately asked for "ID". Despite informing the cashier that my husband was the one purchasing the items, she continued to be rude and repeatedly demanded my ID without any explanation. She didn't even acknowledge my husband, let alone say hello. When I offered to go back to the car to get my ID, she reached for her radio, escalating the situation unnecessarily.
Not only was I embarrassed, but I also found her behavior subtly racist towards my husband, who is Latino. It seemed she was only willing to conduct business with me, a white woman, implying that my husband might be attempting to purchase alcohol for a minor and was very adamant to call for back up until I was able to conduct business. This demeaning and embarrassing treatment was uncalled for, especially considering I have held a BASSET certification in order to handle and sell liquor in Illinois.
My husband and I left immediately, and we will not be returning. We will also advise our family and friends to avoid this store. The treatment we received is simply...
Read moreSuper clean location but bad check out/customer service experience. Seems to be a constant issue at this location based off other reviews. Asked for my ID at checkout even though my 30 year old boyfriend was getting the wine had his (I didn’t touch or purchase alcohol my whole time in the store)! I offered to go to my car to get it since I’m of age as well and he reprimanded me about the rules… which, by the way, per IL law and Binny’s company policy aren’t the rules (see below… even if I was under 21 with an adult I could be in there as long as I didn’t touch/buy anything…). Shopped at Binny’s with my Dad since I was a kid, through my teens, through when I turned 21 and NEVER had this happen. Idk if he was just on a power trip and lying, or if he was poorly trained and doesn’t actually know the rules or IF this location is going to follow different rules than IL law/company policy - they need to start telling people as they walk in, ask for ID’s as they walk in, rather than trying to embarrass them at checkout. Tried to reprimand me like I’m a kid… Hopefully they train their...
