I've been here a couple of times before as a local guide, but I'm definitely not what you'd call a "regular visitor". There's lots of variety in the food here (salads, sandwiches, bowls, soups, etc.), and they also have a pretty extensive menu. Lots of choices so you'll probably be able to find something you like, but the stuff isn't super heavy or anything. It's more like a light and refreshing meal. The food here is super fresh and prepared right in front of your eyes, so if you care about that, then there you go. Basically, they have this counter, and you move down the counter as you order your food and they prepare it for you. Kind of like an assembly line with multiple workers organizing and putting your meal together. The actual food is okay. It's not amazingly good, but it's not terrible either. Personally, I don't find anything too special about the food. It all just seems like food you could make at home pretty easily if you had the right ingredients. No special flavors or twists or anything. Nothing you'd say "Oh, I definitely am gonna come back for more of this." More of: "It's pretty good." So just know the food isn't anything really special, but they do make what they have on their menu pretty well. Most of the workers were pretty helpful and nice. It's definitely more of a self-serve kind of cafe, though, rather than them serving you. Also, I felt like some of the workers talked a bit robotically (?), but maybe that was just my experience. I would note, though, that the menu is a bit expensive for the general/average food they have. Maybe it's because it's "freshly prepared", I don't know. But it just seems kind of expensive for the average/typical salads and sandwiches and soups they have here, and it's not like any of the food is especially stunning or anything. Environment is clean and really nice. They have good architecture and design for the building, and it's modern and eye-catching. Inside is bright and has lots of natural light. Overall, it's a good restaurant, and definitely worth a try if you've never tried Zupas before. I just don't think there's a necessity to come back once you've tried...
Read moreI’m really disappointed to be writing this review as Zupas has been one of my favorites for a while and I hate to be one to complain, but my experience yesterday was extremely disappointing. I went in yesterday for lunch with my dad and from the start placing our order was disorganized. We had to repeat our order 5 or 6 times to 3 different members of the staff who didn’t communicate with each other. After receiving my salad, there was barely any dressing mixed in. I went back to the counter and asked for an extra side of dressing and was told they would charge me. After explaining that my salad had barely any dressing mixed in, I was told that “they only do four circles of dressing” and they were still going to charge me 79 cents. So I walked away without the “extra” dressing. After eating my salad I opened up my sandwhich to find a singular slice of ham, turkey, and bacon with barely any sauce. I’ve had this sandwich numerous times and it’s never looked like this. I went back to the counter to speak to staff and explain the situation and told them that my sandwich was really lacking with only a singular slice of ham/turkey/bacon and was told by a staff member “that’s why you gotta come back for more”. I asked to speak with the manager who was extremely discourteous and couldn’t care less about the situation. He chuckled at me and said “there’s nothing I can do.”
I know lately prices are increasing everywhere as quality and quantity decrease, but the lack of customer service today was poor and disheartening. Being in customer service myself, I know how important it is to be solution oriented and an active listener for your customers/clients. My experience yesterday as a customer was unacceptable. And once again that pains me to say as someone who has always been a big fan of this chain. This location and Cafe Zupas need to do better otherwise they will continue to lose valued customers. And they can start with new, more professional management who aren’t lacking in...
Read moreI love this place. Zupas has excellent soups and sandwiches. But that is not what I want to talk about right now, check out some of the other reviews for that. My concern is with the bathroom and I always say that you can really tell a lot about a business just by looking at the bathroom situation. And Zupas passed the test! I was definitely impressed. It was clean, which of course is the most important hurdle to clear. But then the little things are what really stands out for me. Number 2 does it have proper supplies available? Soap, toilet paper, paper towels? It was a yes to all of these. 3rd I would like to mention the unmentionables, so if you are eating right now at Zupas maybe just check your Facebook or something else... So odors are something all restaurants need to consider. Please all business owners have a properly functional exhaust fan. Nobody appreciates the odors escaping into the dining room area (which is often very near by). All that said the Zupas bathroom smelled fine. A nice neutral smell is good, nothing strong or over powering please. 4th I would like to talk about sounds yes sounds. If you have a shared bathroom. Meaning more than one person can occupy the space at once you have to have some ambient noise. I don't enjoy hearing what is going on in the neighboring stalls. You know what I'm talking about? Please make it a priority to have music piped in to the bathrooms. This is not a difficult thing! So any way Zupas did have music at a good volume as to disguise many of the common bodily functions that will often occur in a restroom. So 5th it was modern and up to date, which I have low on the list here but just feel very strongly about the previous concerns. Anyways if you read all this thank you and...
