Unique concept! FRESH, FRESH, FRESH sushi! It was absolutely delicious! Very interesting how they had everything set up. You can pick what you want when you want and they will prepare it for you right in front of you and put in on a boat that encircles the island of chefs with the patrons sitting on the outside. The ring of boats go in a circle so there is always a wide selection of tasty choices to choose from but of course anything you select off the menu is right there. Great for the kids and the sushi is phenomenal! It was the best I've had in years. I'm in the restaurant business and have had seafood from around the country. This place knows hospitality. You're greated with a traditional bow and smile. Very welcoming, Chef Joseph is very friendly and grateful for his customers. It's a pleasure to eat there. Very friendly staff, the patrons are light hearted and seem to be regulars and have been going there for years. I wish we had this restaurant in my neighborhood. It would definitely be my go to lunch place for sure (the wife doesn't do seafood otherwise it would be the perfect date night for us), but I would totally recommend this to gents that want to impress a girl on a first date. It's fun, all you can eat, the food is excellent and the pricing is more than fair. This is a hidden gem. Seating was about 90% full when I ate there so you know people eat there often. So far this is my favorite sushi place in Illinois to date. Enjoy! And thank you Chef Joseph for an excellent experience and I have never had scallops as good as yours. Those were positively mouth watering and the absolute best I have EVER HAD! Simple PERFECT!...
Read moreIt was our first time here and we came during the weekday. They weren't very busy. I really enjoy the little boats with sushi going around. Sometimes it's a few hours old and doesn't taste as fresh. There wasn't a huge selection on the boats. And many of the boats were empty.
I wish there would of been a list, so people know what is on the AYCE menu. Many of the options I asked for were not on the AYCE menu, and pretty much every place I go to for AYCE had those options.
I had a hard time getting the waitress attention. I had to ask her many times for more water, extra utensils for other members in our party, and she would forget constantly. I had to ask for the bill 3 times. When we got the bill and it was time to tip here, we did tip, but when she realized it wasn't "enough," she turned cynical and cornered us for more money. I thought that was very unprofessional and rude. After making us feel uncomfortable, she began to talk to another co-worker in Korean and pointed at us. I don't speak Korean, but I'm pretty sure she was talking down on us.
I'm sorry that she didn't expect a $10 dollar tip, but 10% was more than fair for the service we received from her. I hope my next time there will be much better, I will have to try going there...
Read moreRotary sushi restaurant that serves an ever-expanding menu of sushi, house specials, ika, kanikama, wakama, hokkigai, crawfish, and other rolls made by chefs within a few minutes. The items are floating on small wooden boats on water around the bar. A couple of recurring customers come and are seated next to us and orders "Rock Shrimp." Within a few minutes the chef dishes out a shiny orange-sauce-coated shrimp plate. I searched for this shrimp item but I couldn't find it on the menu. I finally asked the customer who ordered, where they were able to find this item. And they said that they had seen it offered a few months ago and liked it so much they had asked to have it especially at this time. The chefs kept asking all the customers around the rotary bar saying ,"anything you want we can make it for you!" We especially like the seared salmon and had it requested to be made again later during our time there. I would say it was a modest and a very satisfying. I would highly recommend. I know I'll be returning here in the future. This is a hidden gem of...
