I honestly don't know how this place is even still in business. They are ran by very immature and rude people who have no idea how to deal with the public on a professional level whatsoever. I'm mainly referring to whoever runs the Facebook page for the store, not employees in the actual store itself. Even though I did find it frustrating when I last visited a few years ago, travelling all the way from Strawberry Plains, with books to sell and they only offered to do trade credit (even though it's posted on their Facebook page that they buy and sell used books, CD's, DVD's, etc). The main issue I have, and the reason for even bothering to post a review is as follows: They are constantly posting on their Facebook page that they are giving away books for free, but will add that there is a limit on how many books each customer is allowed to take. Even going so far as to say that only one bag full and the bag has to be able to close. Then they will turn around a few days later and post announcing that they have tons of books available for free that will taken to the dump if they aren't dispensed of during the day by any customers who can get by the store before closing time. That's like throwing away free food at a homeless shelter after putting a limit on how much food someone can have. It makes no sense whatsoever! And a couple months ago a good friend of mine made a comment simply suggesting that they don't put limits on how many books a customer can take when giving them away for free, and they replied saying they wouldn't want some customers to get more than others so that's why they put a limit on how many books people can take. Next thing the friend was told he was being irritating and then blocked from the page. And then today I saw a post announcing they were going to throw books in the dump unless they could be given away by closing time. And I saw some lady had made a comment with a couple helpful suggestions, and I simply replied saying be careful making helpful suggestions on this page because of what happened to my friend, and next thing I know I'm now also blocked from the page, smh, lol. I honestly don't know how people this immature and unprofessional stay in business, and won't be surprised if they are closing up shop very soon in the near future. Good luck to anyone doing business with them or trying to communicate with them on their Facebook page, because you'll...
Read moreI don't get the negative reviews. I travel once a month from Kingsport to go here and never leave empty handed. Last time I went in, some small groups were complaining nothing was there and left. How!? I leave with bags of items! They have literally everything you could want. They have toys, collectibles, (such as Funko Pops, keychains, figures from Marvel, etc. comics, coloring books,) , movies, obviously a plethora of books, other pieces of media, puzzles, items for the hobbyist! It's the BEST store I have been too in this genre! No other bookstore in many other towns or states has such a selection, and prices, and that may be my personal opinion, but it's from my heart. As soon as you walk in you're greeted by the lovely ladies working! Turn to the right and there's a huge selection of movies for $1 or less! Many movies are not always on streaming, and many people still enjoy physical media as a easy way to watch... Especially if you have children and want kids movies or shows. Me and my husband are mid 20s and love classic cinema; this store has some great classic movies! Same room, the puzzles are marked accordingly, and are normally on sale! They have discounted books as cheap as a quarter, and you can't go wrong with taking a leap and getting a good read for that price! Never judge a book by its cover is taken quite literally here. They also let you know to follow them on social media or sign up for their emails-- you can get coupons or certain percentages off; so you can find multiple things you like and could be even happier with the price. Many people quick to judge a small town business, and I'm telling you definitely stop here or even make the trip! I advocate highly of this store. I tell everyone to go here. When friends and family ask where I got so many movies and books and how much it costs? I tell them White Pine! And it is worth the price and experience. You all keep up the good work and keep running that...
Read moreLet me start by saying this is a wonderful book store and it has a great selection and prices. With that being said. I went in on Thursday and bought 7 books to complete a series I have. They were running a special. Every book I bought was $3.95 except 2 and one was $5.95 there other $1.00. when I came home I simply sit the books to side. Well yesterday which is Sunday I get them out and I realize I've purchased a book I already have. So no big deal , I'll take it back a exchange it for another book. So my daughter wanted to get some books so we go today. I tell the ladies that I already have that book and want to simply exchange it. She looks at the book and asks where I got it. I reply with where I got the others. She says it's a discount book(which I don't know what that means, other than I bought it while they were running a special) . And it has water damage.( Alot of their books have some sort of damage or worn as they are second hand.)Then proceeds to say it don't have the price sticker on it. In which she was right but I have no idea what happened to that. I remember the women who rang me up saying something about a sticker. But I really wasn't paying attention. I have no clue with the sticker. She ended up giving me the credit to get another book for $3.95 and I also purchased another. And my daughter bought some too. But I will say she was not exactly the friendliest about the whole situation. And kinda rude. So just a suggestion,if you purchase any books make sure they have the sticker on them and ask for a receipt. And for that lady ,try to be a little nicer to people. If the book had a sticker on it ,I'm truly sorry I don't know what happened. If it didn't then that's on the book store. But this will not keep me from reading or buying...
