I recently had the absolute pleasure of visiting HasBeen Toys and Comics, and I cannot sing their praises enough! From the moment I walked in, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere that immediately made me feel at home among the vibrant displays of Transformers.
However, the highlight of my visit was meeting the owner, Nik Alvarez. Nik's passion and knowledge are simply infectious! With a resume that boasts an impressive tenure at Hasbro and creative contributions to the Transformers movies, he truly is a gem in the collectibles world. His depth of knowledge shines through every conversation, and it’s clear that his love for this industry goes beyond business; it's a true labor of love.
It's not every day that you meet someone who has played a part in shaping beloved franchises. Nik's stories about working on Transformers were captivating and gave me a whole new appreciation for the art and creativity behind the scenes. He takes the time to connect with his customers, sharing insights and recommendations that enhance the experience of browsing the store.
The variety of toys, comics, and collectibles available at HasBeen is impressive, but it’s really the personal touch that elevates this store to a whole new level. If you’re a fan of comics or collectibles, or just want to have a delightful conversation about your favorite childhood toys, this is the place to visit!
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend HasBeen Toys and Comics and encourage anyone in the area to stop by. Whether you're a longtime collector or just curious, you're in great hands with Nik and Christian.
Thank you, Nik and Christian, for such an amazing experience! I can’t wait...
Read moreA new toy/comic store has opened up inside the Frame and Picture Shoppe on Boston Road in Wilbraham, Massachusetts called HasBeen Toys and Comics. The curator is this interesting character named Rik Alvarez. I watched him greet each customer. He would speak to the customers and find out what they were interested in. He has lots of stories about his time working for Hasbro, specifically the Transformers division. Rik is the life blood of the store.
The store itself is full of amazing collectibles. I would challenge anyone to go inside that store and not fall in love with something! I checked a lot of prices online compared to what he sells them for inside the store and I noticed that his products seemed priced to move!
I don’t care how old you are, when you go to HasBeen, you will feel like a kid again!
Also, there are some unique framed posters that are works of art, equally as exciting as the toys and comics that you see there! The offerings of the store will continue to grow as Rik will tell you of some exciting plans he has for the future of the store (trading cards, etc.)!
You should check out HasBeen Toys and Comics and bring your kids. I noticed gift certificates available for birthdays and other holidays.
I made a couple of purchases. I got a collectible toy for a friend and a framed work of Transformer art for my home office. Cool stuff!
And again, take some time to speak with Rik, he will not disappoint as he is...
Read moreAbsolutely fantastic! A veritable treasure trove, packed full of amazing, nostalgic things with very reasonable pricing. The owner, Rik, is one of those rare people who genuinely loves what he does and is an expert on Transformers and so many other things without being condescending or gatekeep-y. He even brought my dog a bowl of water the second we walked in. The store is well organized, clean, and you can tell a lot of care and effort went into the displays. I left with several unique items for my collection (an Autobot WAFFLEMAKER, a Transformers Slurpee standee & a 40th anniversary mug from Australia to name a few) and it was the highlight of our trip. Additionally, he also has a frame shop so if you want valuable pieces of your collection (or anything else) professionally framed, this is the place to go. He has some amazing one-of-a-kind artwork...
