My experience will several Aldi’s in Pittsburgh have been subpar. I was hopeful this one would be different but sadly, no. As soon as I pulled into a parking spot, a man approached the front of my car which lead me to feel unsafe to get out. He walked away and when I got out of the car to head into the store, he was walking around the parking lot approaching other folks and I overheard him asking people for money. The store just did not have a welcoming feel to it at all, much like all the Aldi’s I have been too in Pittsburgh. There was trash throughout the parking lot, no music playing, the cashiers were not very engaging, and the produce shelves looked a bit of a mess. I usually shop at Trader Joe’s but thought I would give this Aldi a try since it’s so much closer for me. After tonight, I won’t be going back. Grocery shopping is already a chore for most, so I would encourage Aldi to at least create an atmosphere that is charismatic...
Read moreI love the store as it is a convenient location but the cashier Ray (or Rae, not sure of the spelling) provided me with a very unpleasant experience. The store was busy and she was called to come help ring and when she sat down I greeted her and she was hesitant to speak back and made no eye contact and began scanning my groceries and then slamming my items into the cart. I had to put my Pringles back and get two new cans because she slammed them into the cart and broke the chips up. I advised her that she slammed them and I was going to get two new cans and she said “Okay” with a very condescending tone. I spoke with a manager on duty who seemed uninterested in the issue, will be calling corporate in...
Read moreThe store is new, the staff are nice but the sidewalk doesn't lead to a crosswalk. I live on the other the opposite side of Penn Avenue from the store, and I walk with my two kids. If I want to shop at Aldi, we have to use the only crosswalk (close to the store entrance) walk the length of the parking lot (in the opposite direction from the store) then double back to the store entrance. This may sound insignificant to someone who drives everywhere, but for someone who is pushing a stroller, it's enough to notice. I'd chalk this up to poor planning. Otherwise, this location is worth a 4/5. There's always room for...
