I gave birth in two other virtua locations. We use the Voorhees location all the time for our kids bc they have the children’s ER. Good experiences. When my husband had a medical emergency he went to Willingboro because it was the closest and we trusted the Virtua Name.
NOPE.
This place is FILTHY, inattentive, negligent, SLOW, and either uninformed or ignorant (yet to be determined). The community deserves better.
I’d like to start off by saying if you are admitted here please be well versed in your patient rights, as well as how to negotiate a hostage situation. A nurse threatened to withhold pain medication from my husband if he chose not to follow the diet that he was on even though he had no idea he was on it, what it was, or what it was for. Conveniently, the threat came after we had made several complaints to patient relations.
As for the cleanliness of the facility, please see the pictures I’ve included with this review. This was in a hospital room, where sick people are trying to get better. The pictures speak for themselves. What is not pictured, however, are the fecal stained sheets from the neighboring room that sat in the hallway soiled linen bin for 8+ hours stinking up the entire place. Dried urine on the bathroom floor, dried blood on the doors. I am rarely grossed out, but this facility was absolutely disgusting. I will admit the lobby was beautiful. I couldn’t find a speck of dust anywhere, but it feels a little like make up on a pig. It is a lie. The cleanliness is not where it counts.
I could be wrong but I get a strong impression they intentionally delay treatment to squeeze out an extra day of inpatient charges. They don’t keep the patient informed, at all, and when they do give answers they’re either incredibly vague or flat out incorrect. For example, my husband asked for pain medication. They gave him some. When he asked what it was he continually got the answer “this is the pain medication”. MAJOR RED FLAG. When we asked about another medication he was receiving they gave us AN answer, but it was not the correct answer as we found out later.
His call bell on the bed didn’t work so they gave him a bell. The kind of bell you’d see at a hotel desk to “ring for service”. The bell was either not loud enough, or they chose not to respond to it. The woman in the room next door screamed for a nurse for 20+ minutes before anyone answered. The nurse for the other guy in the room walked by my husband’s beeping IV machine for over an hour. On more than a few occasions it would beep for over an hour before anyone checked on him.
He had a fall risk, but they didn’t tell him that, nor did they offer to assist him to go to the bathroom or anything. He wouldn’t have accept help anyway, but if he’s a risk, people should be checking on him.
I called patient relations to complain, and they did nothing.
We don’t have a clue what’s going on with him, not even a direction. I’ve been stressing about it for days with no answers. This violates the patient bill of rights. He is not being informed of his potential issues or the procedures or why they are necessary.
Please take the time to go to another hospital if you have the option. Do not go to this one. Your life might...
Read moreI want to start by expressing my appreciation for the office staff who were kind enough to accommodate me despite my being over 15 minutes late for my appointment. They made an exception, and I really appreciated their understanding. The mammogram itself went smoothly, and the staff were pleasant throughout the process. The ultrasound technician was especially great, and I felt well cared for during that portion of my visit.
However, my concern arose after the ultrasound. As someone who has had experience with having fibroadenomas removed and dense breasts, I found it unsettling that the radiologist did not come down to personally discuss his findings and the next steps. I was initially told to wait for him, but after several minutes of waiting, the tech eventually told me that I should follow up in six months to monitor the findings. This was never directly communicated to me by the radiologist, which was concerning.
To add to this, I was already feeling nervous, and it would have been incredibly reassuring to have my anxiety eased with a direct conversation. Instead, I was left in uncertainty, which only added to my stress. I felt dismissed and overlooked, and the lack of communication only amplified my concerns.
As a young Black woman, this experience was not just frustrating—it was a painful reminder of how Black patients, particularly women, are often treated differently in healthcare. We are frequently overlooked, ignored, or not given the same level of care, attention, or respect as others. The fact that the radiologist did not take the time to communicate directly with me about my results is part of a larger, systemic issue in healthcare. African American women are too often left in the dark about our own health, and this neglect can lead to unfortunate outcomes.
Because of this, I will never return to Virtua for a mammogram or ultrasound. This experience has underscored the need for a healthcare system that treats all patients with dignity and respect, regardless of race or background. We deserve better, and this type of treatment is...
Read moreSave your time and just go to Virtua Mount Holly. Just because some of the people here are nice doesn’t mean it’s good care. Everyone was truly clueless and careless. I had nurses say things like “What did you Google that?” and Mpho, the charge nurse on the second floor said to her colleagues “We have a cry baby in 214 waiting to be transported.” in reference to me. Random doctors and specialists floating in and out all day basically giving me no information and leaving. Nurses taking 3-4 hours to come in and replace an IV. I just laid there in Virtua Willingboro for 2 days for 1 MRI, they would’ve let me rot longer if I hadn’t been transferred. Someone would come in the morning to give me some vague information and that was it for the whole day, nothing would happen. I was told I was being transferred for a bedside drainage procedure that would happen on the same day and then be discharged. That couldn’t have been further from the truth, it wasn’t until I was at Virtua Mount Holly things started to make sense and actually start progressing. What ended up happening was a full surgery under anesthesia. The nurse actually apologized on behalf of the doctor at Willingboro who even made such a claim, saying it was totally irresponsible and bizarre to set that kind of expectation for no reason. It’s like they just say whatever pops into their head that they think you wanna hear and go with it. One of the days I was in Virtua Willingboro, the hospital staff was having a luau party and the nurses were so preoccupied with their party that I barely had any care for the day. They were loud, unprofessional, oblivious. Even the transport team was fed up and for good reason, they had to take care of all the things the nurse was supposed to take care of before leaving. Just a total mess and waste of time. The care I got after being transported was like night and day. If this is your closest hospital, just drive the extra 20 min...
