Just left Gale's Garden Center today, about 2 hrs ago. I've passed by it for years, & finally decided to stop in after a Google search recommended them. When I walked in, neither cashier greeted me, but not all establishments do. I looked around outside, searching for a particular shrub, a Pink Weigela. Lots of beautiful flowers, but not the Pink Weigela. I went back inside and asked a cashier if the store had it. She said she had "no idea." I asked who could I check with, & I was directed to " blonde with the ponytail." I go back out, on the other side, show her the picture on my phone & ask about the shrub. She asked if it was a perennial & when I said yes, she just gestured towards the other side. I told her they just sent me to her. She just shrugged. At this point, I left. It was too hot, the lack of customer service, and the fact that nobody looked like me...in the garden center, or parking lot. A very disappointing experience. I...
Read moreGales is a greenthumbers dream! The plants are healthy, strong and lush! There are a lot of workers around - so if you’re not sure where to find something, or you don’t even know where to start - just look around and anyone with one of those aprons on is going to be SO HELPFUL to you, I promise! My family has been coming here since I can even remember. It was much smaller back then. It always makes my heart just burst with joy when I see family owned businesses thriving, and the family traditions still being passed down. Seriously, even if you’re not into gardening you should come down and check this place out they have tons of yard ornaments and cool mail boxes etc. Young? Bored? A cheap date? Bring yourself over to the greenhouse and just look around and take it all in! It’s magical, I tell ya! I learn something new, or even see something new every. single. time. I come in STILL even after all...
Read moreI was underwhelmed by the lack of any kind of labeling on most of the indoor plants. I'm not going to buy a plant that I don't know what it is, because then I won't know if it's toxic for animals nor be able to find care instructions. I'm not an experienced horticulturist who knows the names of all these different plants. Some of the potted plants even had a lot of hardened minerals at the bottom of the plastic pot, which looked like they've not been well attended to in a while. I know right now business is slowing down for the year but there was no one around to ask for help. I'm pretty sure the only two employees there were talking to each other at the registers. I was really hoping to buy some plants, but if they're not going to even label the plants, then I suppose I can look elsewhere. I'm sad because I expected...
