If you have an intricate cake design that does not come directly from one of their many design books that are laying around the lobby of the bakery I wouldn't recommend coming here. Because of the high reviews I decided to give this bakery a chance and I'm sorely dissapointed that I did. On March 20th I ordered a boss baby cake for my son's first birthday party. The lovely woman behind the counter who was assisting me (I'm assuming that I was speaking to Nicole because that's the name on my receipt) assured me that my cake (which I had pictures of and even sent the pictures to an email provided for this exact use) would be exactly what I asked for (2 layers of yellow cake with the bottom layer covered in black fondant with a design that looked like a tie and a white top layer with dark blue words spelling out "boss baby" in fondant) and it wasn't. What I did receive (on the p/u date of 4/20/19)was a cake that had the bottom layer exactly how I asked for it (see description) but instead of the dark blue fondant wording that spelled out "boss baby" I instead recieved an edible sticker that was lifting on both sides and smeared on the top right corner by someone's wet hands. When ordering the cake, Nicole assured me that everything would be made of fondant and that they were more than capable of handling the order. It's my son's first birthday after having a tough and life threatening labor and delivery! Money was not an option when it came to his party. When I went into the bakery to speak to a manager, the owner kim was there and I took my troubles to her. She was very polite (at first) and went to pull our order sheet. Apparently the cashier Nicole never charged me for fondant wording even though I asked for it REPEATEDLY. When pointing that out, Kim went and found a young lady named Jenny and they exchanged words. When I tried to tell her that I was disgruntled about the way the cake that I spent $192.05 on, she became very dismissive. After the shift in her demeanor and she noticed that I was not leaving as she expected she offered me a percentage off of my "next cake purchase" as if I would EVER return after her staff messed up my son's cake and after her attitude towards me. I went into the cake shop looking for nothing and I am still dissapointed. So, like I said; If you have an intricate cake design that does not come directly from one of their many design books that are laying around the lobby of the bakery I wouldn't recommend coming here.
UPDATE!:I said no such thing about the smudge in the corner. I told you this is how the cake looked when I got to my event location. And you didn't care. What I said was that I tried to smooth down the corners that were lifting and that it didn't work. One thing for certain is that I may be many things in this life but never once was I a liar. May I suggest that you properly train yourself and your staff so that an incomptent mess like this does not happen again. I have said my peace and left it alone, I advise you to do the same. I hope you and your staff have good luck on your...
Read moreEdited after owner response: A snarky response as expected. It's really unfortunate how things turned out. And I'd hope for a better response than a rude assumption that the cake had been left to "run errands". I clearly explained the situation on the phone how the cake was properly transported on the floor of a cool car. The "time gap" between pick up and the time we called was due to HER picking up the cakes and ME running the "assumed" errands. She was waiting for me to get home after sending me the pics of this leaning cake, to see if there was any saving it. That's when I then told her to give you a call. I'd think that a woman in business so long would know and teach her employees that a TALL cake needs reinforcement ESPECIALLY with a soft cream cheese frosting filling. With temperatures aside, which seems to be your argument, CAKE doesn't melt. It indeed DOES crumble/buckle or fall apart when too much weight is applied without any support structure.
Had high hopes for this bakery. I have my own specialty cake business, my family and I were celebrating my niece's birthday out of town. Even tho I make cakes unfortunately I was unable to make a cake for this special day while on vacation. My sister found this bakery online and Kim's cakes seemed like a great place to order from. We requested a SIMPLE 6in 3 layer cake with no decor and a drip. We were providing the decorations. We were charged $110 for this BASIC cake that shouldn't have been more than $50. (I make cakes) However, my sister ordered anyway. Upon pickup the cake seemed fine but wasn't anything special, within the 20 min AIR-CONDITIONED car ride, this cake began crumbling from the bottom cake layer. The cake was either too soft or had no support structure for the bottom cake to hold the weight of the top layers, causing the cake to lean over. Not to mention the frosting was melting off of the cake. Myself and my sister 3way called the bakery and spoke with Kim and was told they would not refund and that it was probably our fault the cake fell over. Just as some of the reviews I've read since picking up the cake Kim had many snarky remarks and would not take any accountability for the structure of the cake. Being a baker of many years I know how to properly transport a cake and have done so for over a 2hr car ride. With ZERO structure issues or melting buttercream. This was a 20 min ride. Unfortunately the only thing they offered was to "fix" this cake that was BEYOND REPAIR, "that will take us some time to do" nor did we have the time to wait for another cake as the party was starting in a few short hours. All in all, this was a terrible experience and a loss of $110. Admitting your mistakes and accepting responsibility is much more professional than arguing with customers. Very unprofessional, don't waste your...
Read moreMy family has back to back months of birthdays, Nov, Dec, & Jan. Like clockwork all I would do is call, or email the picture of the same cake that I get for each of our birthdays, and I got the very same cake (strawberry short cake, with strawberry glaze, fresh strawberrys, and cream in the middle, a flower border, with fresh strawberries on top, airbushed a light tint color) I used the same process for years, and the cake was great, and so was the service. Unfortunately, I will not be ordering here ever again, nor recommending it. I placed an order in November, which was great, however my order I just placed for my birthday was a basic yellow cake, no strawberry glaze, it had no fresh strawberries on top, no airbrush, the handwritting was embarrassing, and I couldn't understand how you drop the ball for a special event that I confirmed with one of Kim's helpers on the phone. I called Kim, spoke with her, she was not apologetic, but instead kept repeating that the cake was the same cake from last month, which clearly it was not. I stopped by the bakery later in the day to return the cake, and I had to wait around for my money as she was completely silent, and just laid my money on the counter, and walked off. Clearly, my business wasn't valuable enough to investigate, and try to fix the issue. When I was on the phone with her, I did raise my voice (after hearing her repeat that the cake was the same one from last month, but I never cursed). Kim, you make desserts that people want during their special day, i'm sure your busy, but at the very least, treat their special day or event with some dignity, and respect, not just like another dollar in...
