Brought in an expensive and sentimental laptop with liquid damage that had always run extremely hot, even when brand new. This thing could reach temperatures of almost 100C, or well above 200F when playing FPS games and even sometimes just when I had a lot of tabs open in Chrome. I'm not exaggerating. I promise. I knew this was an issue with gaming laptops, and just lived with it. I use headphones most of the time, so I manually turned the fans to maximum all the time to keep it as cool as possible as often as possible. The liquid damage made me bring it in. It wouldn't start.
The inside of this place is wild. A bit cluttered, but there are more types of machine in there than I could identify. Ancient Macintosh PC's, brand-new VR headsets, Flatscreen TV's, and stereo equipment (maybe?) completely foreign to me. Apparently all of these things and more can be fixed here. The walls contain classic gaming and movie memorabilia as well as multiple certificates of completed courses in things such as Forensic Data Recovery. Also, for any would-be thieves reading this review, there is a large German Shepherd and well-run security system on the premises, plus the fact everything in here is broken and Ben is the only one who can fix them within fifty miles.
Ben was communicative, honest, and helpful over the three weeks or so it took to complete the repair. Computer repair-people are like tattoo artists; It's expensive and pretty permanent, you should go to someone who takes their time to do good work. Two of these weeks were just spent waiting for higher quality material for the repair, as Ben knew exactly what to use for this machine in this situation. Ben took apart and cleaned my entire laptop, removed loads of dust trapped in my fans from running it on maximum during recent renovations in my home, and re-painted the liquid metal coating on my CPU and GPU, which had burned off due to the overheating problem. He updated the laptop's Windows and BIOS, got it running, and adjusted the laptop's settings to keep it cooler all the time, which I didn't even know was possible. Ben also gave professional advice on not only how to treat my current laptop, but which one I should invest in next.
My laptop is up and running, and after liquid damage I was worried that would be impossible. Not only that, it is running more smoothly and far more coolly than it did when it was new out of the box. The price of this repair was less than a tenth of the cost of the laptop. Come to Logistics.
P.S. Don't buy gaming laptops that brag about their graphics and RYZEN 3090 4k RTX yadda yadda! They're designed to cook themselves to death within 3-5 years of use. Seriously. Get a good hardy laptop and use it in whatever way...
Read moreI've been to this place before and was happy with the service so figured I would ask for a quote for work on my PC. Submitted the questions through email. Received a quote like I asked for, but I had additional questions/comments. I sent a picture because I was told it is hard to provide a good estimate without seeing it. Understandable. I received no more communication after almost two weeks with an additional follow-up email in between. Once I respond that I'm taking my business elsewhere, I receive a response within an hour, outside of business hours. The exchange progressed into a back and forth essentially telling me it is my fault. Rather than simply saying we could schedule a time to take a look, the better option was to ignore my questions, yet having a conversation blaming me, there is plenty of time to respond then. I guess I was supposed to telepathically know what works better for them. I am understanding when it comes to paying for professional services and I have the utmost respect for small businesses, but I don't appreciate the disrespect I experienced. Read moreSearched around online for a place to have my PS1 modded with the xstation and landed on Logistics. To those that aren't familiar, this would require me to send in my console, have them perform the service, and then ship it back. After purchasing the service, I promptly got an email from Ben saying he would get to work on it as soon as I got it over to them. I wasn't expecting to hear much after that...my expectation was to just receive a tracking notification after everything was ready, but Ben and Jessica really went above and beyond in regards to communication. Jessica updated me when they received my Playstation, Ben updated me shortly after stating he would begin work on it shortly and followed up soon after with a few emails about progress including some pictures of everything working. Ben also noted a potential issue and fixed that as well. It didn't take long for the modification and Ben updated me when it was finished and when it would be shipped out. When I received the Playstation everything was well packaged and in working order when I tested it out. I'm very pleased with Ben and Jessica's service and fully expect to use Logistics for all my modding needs...
