My daughter has been asking to come here for some time now. I thought it was odd at first she charged me not for swimming, but entering in for supervision for my nine year old. I went with the flow as usual and paid anyway.
Our four kid's we're having the time of their life, it's been since last September they've gone swimming, about 7 minutes later a lady from the front desk approached me while sitting in the swimming area.
She asked us to leave simply because two of my daughter's had a waterproof t-shirts instead of a revealing swim suite(two are uncomfortable in revealing swimsuits like tomboys), and swim shorts. She then stated that fibers in the pool would damage the filter.. I thought that was pretty strange. My children we're confused and disappointed. No apologies as we left.
As mother I would have approached it differently, and also if they had a sign up pior to warn us or rules, & regulations on their website I would have completely respected that.
We won't be back. Instead I went back to YMCA after this happened to cheer our kids up and there was absolutely no issue's and everyone was welcoming, fun, and happy to have us back. Kid's had a blast. Several people had waterproof shirts on as well, with waterproof shorts No body shaming. Staff kepted walking by, and greeting us with smiles, and saying hi.
After reading similar negative comments on their website, one saying they looked annoyed with how many children she had, and another saying they made her leave due to the swimsuit she wore. Made me realize even more the staff here is simply unkind.
Please take your kid's somewhere that is less judgmental, and more friendly because having fun is what it's all about, we avoid drama, we raise our kid's respectful and taught them today this behavior wasn't right. Thanks for reading, hope it will improve for the...
Read moreI was very excited to go to the windsor rec center pool for the first time with my children. Upon arrival it was very nice looking. I was greeted by a young lady who helped check me and my children in with no smile. She asked me the ages of my kids. I answered her and she told me I can't be there with my kids by myself, she told me I needed another adult with me because I have 4 kids. My 11 year old almost 9 year old and 6 year old are all swim team ready. Probably can out swim most older kids. My 4 and half year old is the only one who can't swim and. Needs direct assistance. I don't mind at all keeping my 6 year old by my side to watch her because of the rules but why can't I take my kids there by myself? There should be a swim test for issues like this. No single parents are allowed to go here? I told her I was waiting for a friend and she told me no its ok just for next time. I was perplexed I have never come a across this rule and I looked on your website and it does not say that as a rule. I then enter into the pool area and notice that the life guards look miserable. One of the lifeguards literally rolls her eyes everytime she would get a little splash of water on her. Doesn't seem like she likes her job at all. I was also told people don't really eat food at the tables inside behind the register and that I could eat food on the pool deck. I got inside the pool area and asked the life guards if I could eat on the pool deck and she said no only outside . It was raining so that was a no go. Very disappointing experience. I was so excited but I don't think I will...
Read moreThis is a beautiful facility and very clean. The equipment is new and well kept. There is a greater demand for swim classes than what is available. If you're going to sign up for lessons, you have to sign up for the entire 3 months available, regardless of knowing what class your child will be in, because when a lesson section ends, the next is full. The price and quality of lessons are fair. Some of the instructors for ages 6 and under need more training with small children and more lesson planning for the class. We live in Windsor and want to spend money in Windsor. If we travel outside of Windsor, we are travelling an hour round trip, twice a week for lessons. The website also states that you can register for classes 4 different ways. I was having trouble registering online due to a website error of the rec centers. I called to register over the phone, one of the methods described on the web site, to be told that I can only register online for the first week that the catalog is out, despite having a web error, that I cannot fix. This information is not described on the website. Only that there are 4 ways to register for classes/activities and they encourage you to do so. There were already 4/6 spots taken in the swim class I was looking at. I left a message with a supervisor with my issue and concern. I have not been responded to regarding these issues, over 48 hours have passed. I was persistent, logging in, logging out, attempting to add the class for 3 hours, when I was finally able to get past the website...
