I wanted to love this team of stylists, I really did! We found Kristy’s by google search and after seeing their work on instagram, I booked them! The makeup was the one thing they did fantastic, mine and my 4 girls makeup all looked stunning! However, the hair situation was much different.
My hair was not what I had showed my stylist and although it looked fine, was not what I asked for. I wanted big, bouncy, soft curls and what she gave me was tighter, curled toward my face (which I hate), defined curls. By the time they got done with everyone there wasn’t enough time for me to even request my hair be fixed because I had to get into my dress at that point.
My first bridesmaid had asked for a simple half up hair do with a little braid in the back. She was told that isn’t possible because of her extension placement so they gave her a little twist instead. Her curls were very tight, almost balled together. It looked NOTHING like the photo she showed this hair stylist. She was even told she can’t pull both sides of her hair back for the half up because of the extension placement. This was not true as when she asked a second time to have it fixed, the hair stylist finally did what she asked and her extensions were hidden. We did end up having to completely re-curl her hair because she was so unhappy. She looked 12 because of how tight her curls were.
Bridesmaid 2 had longer hair which should have made her hair style easier. She also went with a half up and looser curl style. This one did have a “twist” in the back but with some volume. What she got was tight curls and a small twist with zero volume. She had to have the stylist brush out her hair and straighten her curls a bit. Her half up style was still very flat. Again, nothing like the photos.
Bridesmaid 3 has thinner hair which understandably is probably harder to work with. The stylist put some type of product in her hair that made it look very greasy and stringy. It was NOT like this prior to getting her hair done. We had to point this out and the lead stylist told the other stylist that she used the wrong product. Her hair looked honestly horrible. My bridesmaid didn’t want to say anything but I did for her because it was that bad. Not at all like the picture she asked for. Her hair was so weighed down we had to continue curling her hair up until we walked down the aisle to keep it from falling and add a crap ton of hair spray that thankfully one of my girls brought with them.
When I reached out to get a resolution after the wedding, we were basically told that these girls are professionals and got every excuse as to why their hair turned out the way they did (blaming the girls hair or their meds or something other than an apology) and was only offered a free hair style in the future for myself. While I appreciate that, we just wanted some type of apology or resolution and feel like we were kind of just swept under the rug. The lead stylist had a very “I know what I’m doing, I’m right” kind of attitude that made my girls feel super uncomfortable to even say anything. My girls were taking pictures of me and each other of course and we even caught pictures of her faces she would make during conversation. At one point she even said “it’s almost like we know what we’re doing” when one of the girls said they liked their makeup. Overall it was just a poor experience with the stylists we got and the response we got to how unhappy everyone was. We should’ve just had the girls do their own hair and save their money because that’s what they ended up having to do anyway. For makeup, Kristy’s is great. But for hair? Run. You can...
Read moreKristy's Artistry was everything I hoped for and more! I spent a long time searching through makeup and hair artists for my wedding. I wanted someone who would be able to give me a look I would feel beautiful in and a team I knew I could rely on to give me what I expected on the day of (I am sure many of us have had our makeup or hair done and walked away not feeling great before). When I saw the AMAZING Russian hairstyles Kristy did on their website and instagram page, I knew this was the unique style I was looking for to make my wedding hair something special. They were the only place that offered this style and it truly did set them apart from every other hair or makeup vendor.
After booking them, a year later I went for my hair and makeup trial and it did NOT disappoint. First, Kristy is an absolute gem of a person. She is so much fun and so kind. My mother and I enjoyed talking to her the whole time (and we were there 5 hours because of the complexity involved in the Russian hairstyles). Second, the hair absolutely blew us away!! It was everything we had been hoping for and then more. Once we tried on my hairpiece and earrings with it, it made me feel like I looked like royalty. Third, the makeup was also perfect - I am so picky about my makeup and I knew my fiancé (now husband) has always hated cakey makeup at weddings. Well that was not the case with Kristy's makeup - it was the perfect blend of smokey and contoured while still looking seamless on my face. I could not have been happier. The trial made me so excited and relieved knowing I was in good hands.
On the wedding day, our wedding was 2 days after Hurricane Ian, but Kristy and her team were still there right on time and ready to bring the positive energy we needed after so much stress during the week leading up because of changes due to the hurricane. They made it a fun morning and my hair and makeup was once again absolutely PERFECT and STUNNING. This time I also got to see my bridesmaids and mother's hair and makeup done too - and Kristy's team did beautifully! Everyone LOVED their hair and makeup. My bridesmaids kept looking in the mirror all happy. My mother was admiring her hair in the photos after lol.
Everyone loved my Russian hairstyle and thought it looked so unique and royal. My husband had mixed feelings about my veil (which he liked) just because he loved my hair so much! My grandmother said I looked like Jasmine from Aladdin. I never got to try on my dress with the hair and makeup because it was in alterations at my trial, and it just paired beautifully together. I could not have been happier.
With so much stress from the hurricane, I was so relieved I had Kristy's Artistry as my hair and makeup because I knew as soon as they arrived it was one less thing I had to worry about - I knew my hair and makeup would turn out perfectly as would my bridal party. Thank you so much to Kristy and her team for giving me my dream...
Read moreI booked with Kristy’s artistry after two fantastic experiences. This time I walked into our wedding morning to a different artist than I had booked. I knew this was a possibility with booking but I had not been notified of the change or I would have booked a trial to ensure I would have what I wanted on my wedding day. The hair did not come out as I hoped and due to a misunderstanding on timing there was not time to fix it. Because I am a people pleaser to my core I said I liked it and moved on. When I followed up after the event and let them know of my frustrations the email I received back basically said it was my fault for not voicing my concern and that they don’t have artist changes often so it is unprecedented for them, and that the artist said there was time to fix it had I said anything. She was not aware of our timeline so it is frustrating to be told there was time when as the Bride I am saying there was not. It is frustrating that I tried to provide feedback and the response took no responsibility. I will not be booking with this team again.
I do not want to be accused of not providing the full picture. I did request that my ears be covered and the hair to be placed higher and the artist said that was not possible. That was why my hair was lowered. At the end my hair was lower than I wanted and my ears were still not covered. Also the response only confirms that had time been taken to make changes we would have run over as the artist started on time and finished right at the completion time. There probably is a buffer built in but the artist did not know she had a second makeup to complete until she was finalizing my makeup. I asked if she could do my lipstick after the second makeup so that I could eat. She was taken off guard and double checked the paperwork and said she missed the second makeup and had been taking her time but that she would still get it done. I never would have posted this review on the wedding day alone, that is why I sent an email instead. At the end of the day nobody is perfect and things happen, but own up to it and offer a sincere apology and don’t blame the customer. My biggest frustration was the lack of responsibility and response to my email which the response to this comment...
