This is a rink that I can tell holds a very special place in the hearts and minds of locals. It's a very unique and old barn, but very clean and freshly painted. Memorabilia and photos line the walls. The locker rooms are interestingly designed, but they work and the showers are clean. My only complaint is that I skated on the coldest day of the year (10 degrees!) so far and the inside was just slightly warmer than outside or it felt that way. I was so cold I couldn't feel my hands and feet, even after a 2 hour pickup skate and lots of action. With temps that low, the ice surface is very hard and a tad brittle. My skates were not quite sharp enough for that. I actually didn't take a shower for fear that my beard would freeze 🥶. To be specific, the locker room I was in had a heater, so it wasn't completely frigid everywhere in the building. All that said, I'd definitely skate there again, but I'll take precautions if the temps are below freezing...
