Burr Oak Bowl — Local services in Worth Township

(October 2023) Adding an updated review from the original below. The bowling alley itself is still decent. I still love how the lanes are. Most of the staff is great but I did run into one that seems like she's a little incompetent and weird. There was a towel on the floor at the bar and I picked it up because it was kind of kicked off to the side and I didn't want someone to stumble over it. I tried to give it to the bartender and she told me to put it back down on the floor because there is gum there. I looked down and apparently somebody dropped some gum on the carpet. So instead of just dropping the towel back down there to which someone's just going to kick off to the side again I started picking up the gum with some napkins at the counter. I didn't ask the bartender, the older skinny lady with glasses if she had something that was a little wet cuz there was just a little piece left and I could just get that up right quick and it'll be cleaned. She gets an attitude and tell me to just throw the towel back down there. I told her what the towel isn't going to do any good if someone kicks it off to the side and still steps on the gum and I'm cleaning it up so that no one steps on it. Then she gets all in a huff and said she doesn't have time to do that. So now I'm getting a little upset and I'm like well I'm doing you guys job for you just give me a little something that's wet and that'll be the end of it so no one steps on the little piece of gum that's left and injure themselves trying to bowl with gum on their bowling shoes. Next thing you know she steps back and starts clapping her hands in like this wide long-armed clap like they do at church, and start singing "everything is going to be all right" and then says "woo these people". Acting like she was a total psycho. Then she walks away. In that brief moment that she was acting like she was so kind of psycho she didn't have time to give me something to wipe off the carpet. It makes NO sense, she's doesn't have time to give me something to clean THEIR carpet with but she had enough time to step back and clap and like a 10 year old? So I just threw my hands up and said screw it if somebody steps on the gum they step on the gum. It's sad you try to look out for people's safety in a company that you aren't even working and they just don't (at least in this employee's case) give two f's and instead of helping you do their job they act stupid and crazy. Unreal!!

(2020)Have not been to this bowling alley the past 8 years because I moved to Vegas. Now that I've moved back I'm back in the league I was in before I left. I love the improvements to the pit area. The lanes are still pretty good to bowl on, however I seen a few lane machines break down within the past month. With what's going on and the place being closed for a while I suppose that would be expected. I got a great deal from groupon and went one Saturday afternoon with my 3 young children. I called the day before and the manage Vick ((smokey) told me i didnt have to make reservations like the groupon said. Being a great deal I went expecting some type of stipulation, which was, there was league bowling until 10 pm....too late for a 1yr old, 5yr old, and 8 yr old. My 1 yr olds fascination with balls made me want to let them watch the leagues and I ordered a pizza(even upgraded from the 4 slice small pizza to the med pizza because the guy said he couldnt cut it in squares), some jumbo wings for carry out, and even left a small tip. 30 plus minutes later I go to get my pizza and was told "it'll be a few more minutes" He went to the kitchen and made the pizza just then, but made it wrong. My kids only eat cheese and i ordered half cheese half beef. It came out ALL BEEF ( so i had to eat the whole pizza practically by myself).. the guy knew he messed up but didnt say anything to me about it. He tried to remedy it by magically cutting the pizza into squares... thought he couldnt do that??!!.. anyway so i approached Vick and he claimed that he can only make it right, if he was when i did come back to patronize the business with my paid for groupon and offered some free soda (which i told him i didnt really want or need). Here today is Wednesday and my kids and I are back, no Vick in sight but I noticed the female manager, who was there Saturday. I talk to her and she says there is nothing she could do to remedy the situation because he gave me the free soda????? Sorry but that is not the way to keep customers coming back and my kids did not have bowling experience I was aiming for. I wont be going back and its unfortunate but anyone that doesnt care to correct their mistakes dont...

I would give them a 5 but their bartender Yvonne was very rude and act like she doesn't know how to take orders. My brother and I stood there waiting to order a bucket of beer and she passed us up several times. Finally, I waved her down and told her I was next, she proceded to skip over us again and get water for 2 people adjacent from us. I waved at her again and asked for the bucket and finally got it after about 15 mins. My cousins had the same issue with her. Mind you the bar was not crowded. Also, another lady was at the bar and she was too busy talking and entertaining some other people that I think were regulars. Overall, besides the bartending issue, we had a great time.
