Today I tried to buy a couple of Birthday presents for my parents' birthdays. I've been there at least 3 different times, spending over $100 each time, so I thought I'd go to my favorite place. This time, I was spending less, but I was still interested in buying something. There seemed to be a little flower arranging conversation between an older customer and the two employees, an old woman with her hair in a bun, and a girl with long black hair. I stood behind her, waiting, no notice. I then saw another older woman being helped by the girl on the other side, so I stood behind her! As soon as she bought her things, the girl went over to the extremely interesting flower arranging! Then she disappeared! Meanwhile, the flower arranging customer was buying her lovely arrangement with all sorts of kind attentions from the old woman and young girl! The girl came back, and I hoped she would help me. Nope! The older woman asked her to get a special container for the lovely arrangement. While helping the customer, she had, several times, come near me, ignoring me! The girl then walks toward me, looks at me, my things I want to buy, my open purse, my $20 bill on the counter, and walks right past me! The older employee is, in the meantime, still coming right next to me, talking to the flower arranger, and continuing to ignore me! Finally, I'd had enough! I picked up my purse and money, left my hoped for purchases in the counter, and walked out the door! The store is cute, with lots of fun things, but treatment like that makes the experience very unfun! I will never darken their door again and I will share the story of my treatment with my family...
Read moreExtremely overpriced kitsch boutique. Caters to white, affluent patrons ONLY. Accompanied an older friend I help take care of there to gift shop this week only to be treated like I’m beneath them. 2 older white women were ahead of me at the cashier line. Both received warm welcomes, gift wrapping, and happy holidays. When my turn came to pay for the bag of overpriced pretzels, the cashier young lady seemed visibly distraught, asked if my debit card was valid instead of welcoming me, and ended our transaction with a simple “ok.” For reference I am a Hispanic androgynous person who does NOT dress to draw attention. Another red flag is they proudly display “We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone” in an eerily cute handmade sign above their cashier. I will repost if they try to silence minorities....
Read moreI'm not really sure how this place stays in business. Seems to cater to a market that doesn't exist in Yakima. I came in wearing sweats and apparently if you look like you have no money, they aren't particularly interested in helping you. (I'm an attorney). No one asked if they could help me when I walked in, I had to track someone down. My daughter asked for a specific item that they had in the back, but they seemed too busy and important to go get it. I can't tell you the number of times I bend over backwards to get something special out of the back at my own businesses or bend over backward for a client/customer. My daughter started crying and the staff didn't seem to care. Just another Yakima vanity project clinging to a time long, long gone where they judge you by the clothes your husband buys you....
